Then you would have been doing it wrong. Went there, played sports, and loved it. Jesuit kids came to our parties because we were smart enough to get alcohol and the good dope. Not sure what I missed out on?
Im not going to keep this going. There are reasons I would not enjoy BF or Baton Rouge High. Great, great schools though

It means they couldn't get in, or they didn't live in Orleans Parish and their parents didn't want to lie about their residency, parents most likely told them this.

Yeah I've never met a kid that went to Ben Franklin. Most of the catholic school kids and even the public school kids all associated with each other. Never met a Ben Franklin kid

thats why you send your son to Christian Brothers first and then all of his friends will be going to Jesuit anyway since 99.99% of christian brothers grads go to jesuit

You make it sound like Jesuit kids had issues with this.

Not necessarily. I admit, there were some weird kids at BF, but we had the same cliques any co-ed high school would have. I had plenty of friends that went to Newman, Jesuit, Country Day, Brother Martin. They had their fair share of strange people, as did we.

ETA: Hi, Macintosh, I'm TFS4E. Now you've met a BF kid. You're welcome.

Which is hilarious considering Mr Scaffidi hates Jesuit.

Like I said, I wouldn't label all of yall like that. That's just what I ran into back in the day.

Lol. Metairie is changing but it hasn't gone downhill. The I-10 corridor has gone to shite but the rest of the city is still safe
ALL of fat city is now section 8 housing. (those streets were never nice per se but its really bad now). Anything north of Veterans and south of I-10 has declined immensely. This is not uncommon for a city as it ages. Metairie is landlocked like a lot of places. The only thing that can happen is structures age and decline is value until a renaissance occurs. Some section along Veterans this has happened with old shite being demolished and new places erected. However, generally speaking, Metairie is nowhere near as nice as it was a couple of decades ago.

LINK

Here is a link that lists enrollment at state schools for the last 10 years.

Better link

(Brother Martin is broken up into a Senior High and Junior High. Not sure what that is all about.)

for the academic year 2013-2014 BM enrollment stands at a reported:
550 - Junior High
672 - Senior High

1,222 student enrollment. Much better than Rummel's enrollment. Brother Martin is "Busting at the seams" and would be doing better in the future if they did not cut out the 7th grade to acquiesce to the wishes of the Archdiocese.

ETA: Jesuit has 1,414 pupils

How so? I didn't get this impression, but then again I was all of 12 when I graduated from there.

What's really funny is that Jesuit is a huge feeder to LSU and McGinn hates LSU.

It's just one of those things, man. NOLA high schools be serious bidness. Other schools blanket BF with the nerd label. BF people blanket Lusher as losers (although I went there in middle school), Jesuit as pompous assholes. We all need to just get along.

You would think that with a superior Jesuit education you would aim much higher than LSU?

I see BF as some heady music, slow talking, dope smoking, jam band people

I was more of a bud light, frat frat frat kid

Neither is cooler than the other at all. Just pointing out that BF, as a whole, is different

An LSU degree serves its purpose very well if you plan to stay in south LA. No sense in spending a ton of money to go to a "better" school if you want to stay here.

New Orleans people Why do yall have such a problem with facts? I graduated from Catholic. Zero problem with saying Jesuit is a better academic institution. See, it isnt hard

The only kid I know that went to BF is now in college but went from a kid to an "emo" type wearing all black clothing, lip stick, and full of tats. Very intelligent but off the deep end socially.

This seriously made lol. Probably a pretty fitting description. So I applaud you.

I will say most frat parties at LSU I went to resembled the same parties we had in high school. They were a much larger scale, but similar in nature.

ETA: I was always jealous of some of my Jesuit friends teachers. We had one hot teacher, but she left after Katrina. The rest looked like the slug lady from Monsters Inc

They provide a solid college prep education while still embodying the Catholic faith.

But nowadays you can get diddled at the public school, for free.
