It was the beginning of the end for me. When I heard about how they killed his wife while holding her baby… oof.

This one of the things we know the government has done, just imagine the ones we dont know about. They arent as squeaky clean as they would like you to think. Ruby Ridge and Waco were complete shite shows

That is very difficult to read what really happened at Ruby Ridge. And the taunts on what the wife had for breakfast after blowing her head off is just disgusting. Unimaginable really.

The federal government couldn’t have that. They sent an undercover federal agent to set him up. Weaver legally sold two shotguns to the agent. The agent asked him to saw the barrel off for him. Weaver said no that is illegal. The agent said can you help me out this once, I don’t have a saw. Finally weaver relented and sawed off the barrels.

The FBi then killed Weaver’s son, wife(who was holding a baby at the time) and dog. They also wounded Weaver and his friend.

Did they step into a timewarp after sawing off the shotgun or you just decide to leave a shitload out of the story?

They were federal cops. Shooting the dog was a given.

They targeted and entrapped Weaver for the sole purpose of leveraging the arrest to force him to connect the feds with a group they believed were running guns. Weaver had a very distant injection with the group , but the feds didn’t care. They wanted the group so bad they entrapped and used Weaver. To make it worse , they sent an armed team to arrest him when they had peaceful opportunities to pick him up.(Very similar to Waco where they could have picked up Koresh any morning during his daily jog). There is a reason the Feds paid 1 mill to each daughter and 100k to Weaver.

Would love to hear your take for how what led to Ruby Ridge was a reasonable use of federal power

I've heard people try to rationalize it, but their case is always woefully weak.

I was in my 2nd year of law school at Gonzaga (Spokane) at the time and my best friend and I drove to Ruby Ridge and hung out at the scene while the feds kept everything on lock down.

We were there the day before Bo Gritz showed up and helped negotiate the surrender.

One of the most surreal experiences of my life and even though going there with my friend was more of a "let's go see what we can find" stupid move, I'm really glad I went, because looking back on that experience, it really set the tone for so many things that came later.

If i recall correctly, even his going to a militia meeting was a setup based upon lies and false pretense from the undercover.
