Rousey would eat leather on her first wild dive in. Watch her fight, she is off balance and just swinging.
Mayweather would see her in basically slow motion. He would have time to decide which of her eyes to close. That last fight she had was one step up from a hair pulling at Wak Mart

"wild dive in" like it's not a calculated move.
one reason why BJJ is so effective against traditional fighting is that there isn't much to hit. shoulders. forehead. maybe graze an ear. maybe the top of the back. a big part of the theory is based around minimizing your risk and protecting yourself.
now FM has speed and reach and he could keep her at bay and use his jab to avoid takedowns. any mistake on her part = KO
any mistake on his part = submission, though
they'd both make lots of mistakes if you ran it out 1,000,000 times

Lynx I think you fail to realize there just aren't that many good female MMA fighters out there. Most have no martial arts backgrounds and if they do they lack experience in the mma ring. Rousey' s dominance is great but the fighters she is fighting is really meh. Of course the UFC and Dana are gonna do all they can to make it look like Rousey' s opponents are legit though.

MMA is littered with wrestlers dominating. it's the discipline that has historically led to the quickest results. a lot of wrestlers in the early 00s had basically 0 training outside of wrestling, too. mark kerr dominated HW for a good while and his first fight was with 0 BJJ/striking training.
wrestlers are the best at cutting weight and have the muscle memory/strength that translates best to MMA-style fighting
RR is at a decisive physical disadvantage against FM in every physical attribute
FM is at a decisive physical disadvantage against a wrestler coming in at the same weight in areas that matter more in MMA

My best friends were all wrestlers and some were state champs. I saw them lose fights to frat stars I will text my boy and tell him you think he destroys Floyd

High school wrestlers are not prepared for punches or how to make someone tap out. I'm a very good ex wrestler who transitioned to MMa in college. I wouldn't have stood a chance against a boxer. I'd walk right into a punch.

Boxer here. Have you ever been hit with boxing gloves before? That "padding" is to protect your fists, not the other person. Boxing gloves are leather on the outside and getting punched by a boxing glove hurts just as much as getting hit with a bare fist, if not more because you're getting hit with more surface area.

Bare knuckles will tear your skin up more and get bloodier. Doesn't mean it hurts more. Gloves don't make the impact less powerful. Leather is just as hard as skin (because it is skin), you're just getting hit with a flat surface as opposed to the curves of the bones in your knuckles.
Bare knuckle fighters have shorter careers and less fights because their hands get broken into oblivion.
There's just as much padding in an MMA glove as there is a boxing glove, they just leave the fingers free to grip because that's part of the sport when you're on the ground grappling.

Either way, didn't intend to be hostile. Just pointing out that MMA gloves vs boxing gloves doesn't make a difference in the impact of the punch.

You actually seemed kind of hostile. It was just supposed to be a goofy thread, but I guess the thread police put the kibosh on it.
I never said they didn't hurt, but I do remember reading that John L. Sullivan was one of the earliest glove advocates because people were getting killed in the ring, not because their hands were getting messed up.
