Rouses is not responsible for delays or failures in delivery due to adverse weather conditions or natural disasters
This is the equivalent of gravel trucks having that “not responsible for items falling from truck” sign on them to deter people from calling them out when rocks damaged their vehicles.
If this was a non perishable item, your financial institution would likely tell you to wait it out and not offer a refund. Given this item and the fact that the merchant promised you the product by X Day, then even though the problem is not directly on them, they are still responsible for ensuring you receive your product by the agreed upon time.
So yeah they “aren’t responsible fo delays in delivery”, but they are responsible for promising you to have product X delivered to you by Y date in exchange for Z amount of funds. You provided Z, they are responsible for X and Y.

Yeah I see why people are bashing you...but I also see your point, customer service would be to refund you. Implementating fine print is fine and all I guess, it cost you the price of a king cake to learn not to do business with them

While I agree with you, that's not how most companies would handle this on the customer service end of things.
Especially given how fricking terrible FedEx is.

Against my better judgement, I got a Rouse's king cake this season and that mf'er was stale within 2 days. Never again.

Of all the king cake options out there, you ordered Rouse's?
This is the biggest issue of this thread....

But yes, $50
You were going to embarrass Louisiana in the eyes of your coworkers with that mediocre thing. Be glad the ice storm saved you the embarrassement.

30 something for the king cake and then I paid extra for the overnight shipping
They've had it before and liked it which is why they asked me to order another this year... So I don't think they would give two shits if it came from the same place again.
With you though, would've rather from somewhere else. With that said, my personal king cake for the family came from elsewhere....

You not only bought a Rouses King Cake, but ordered it for delivery? Whatever bad shite that happens to you I think it’s warranted

My wife in the last few weeks purchased over 200 king cakes from Rouses that were shipped all over the country and has had no known issues. Don’t blame Rouses...

I'm getting some laughs at all the king cake snobs up in here. Usually when you are shipping a king cake to someone, they aren't eating 47 different kinds of king cake every year like us who live locally. Therefore, they would likely be very happy with a Rouses King Cake. I mean, they sell 400,000 - 500,000 king cakes each year, so many people obviously enjoy them.

Well yeah, when you buy it locally it's pretty damn cheap. King cakes ordered to ship are much more expensive...

Where do you live?
I don’t think they’re selling fresh ones any longer
Saw them on a table when I went in this morning for $8

Savannah.
Yah when I lived in nola I used to get the small/medium ones for like $5-10.
Rouses is still one of the cheapest to get shipped/delivered. Randazzos etc. usually run closer to 50-60 before shipping.
I get that I'm basically paying 40-60 for a glorified cinnamon roll.
