Rougaroux*
Dats what you cook em in.

But FTR is is actually Rougarou derived from the French term loup-garou (pronounced lu ge roo) which is literally wolf man.

Totally missed that.

(Read this in your best Cajun accent) Heh?

I am the unfortunate result of a parent who was effectively abused by teachers in order to tech them English. As such, I speak very little French and know even less grammar and punctuation. I do google though and I do think I knew that, years ago, but time is not always kind to us old men.

So you want to know if the cajun version of bigfoot is real?
Rougarou is a werewolf, technically. Only recently has it been considered squatchy.

Man, I hate to hear that. Fortunately I was able to learn from some family, but most I learned in school and living in France.
It's crazy how much culture get eroded by people who think they "know better." The entire South is all but gone in reality, at least what makes us truly distinct anymore.
Btw... is knowing French still useful in LA? if so, maybe you could try duolingo. it's a free online language program and it's really good, too. I started learning Spanish with it.

Unless you're in tourism or retail in an area with a lot of older folks, not at all. And even in retail, I don't think there are any more areas with french only people who do any shopping alone. My mom is 83 next month and her generation is mostly bilingual. People the age if my siblings and I (late 60s to early 50s) vary from bilingual to english only. The remaining indigenous French only folks are all elderly at this point, generally older than my mom.
ALway enjoy our conversations, you sure you're an aggie?
