You probably won’t start PT for about 6 weeks but they will give you some stretching exercises to start after 2 weeks. Do everything you can to do the exercises at home and then when you get to PT work hard to stretch that shoulder. My operated shoulder has more flexibility than the other but it will take at least 6 months to get the motion and a year to get your strength back.

No pain ball here.
I do have the cryo cooler circulating ice water.
Was hoping to get back on the rugby field by month 6, but sounds like it might be longer according to some of y’alls stories.

The physical therapy was the worst pain I’ve ever had in my life. I’m pretty sure I blew my shoulder out again but I’m not having another surgery because of the therapy. Have fun.

Call your doctor and ask to switch to oxycodone because norco is shite for pain control.

Will need to be up in a recliner with pillow behind shoulder/area of back on side operated on. Hope you get relief soon.

Ibuprofen and Tramadol. I find the Tramadol almost feels the same as the Norco and is non-addictive and doesn’t make you hate life the hours of the day you’re not on it, like pain pills do.

My boss's wife was on those pain pills and on the bottle it told her to take them every 4-6 hours as needed. Hell when I was on oxy's and perc's I never took them that often.
If all the dope heads wouldn't have screwed the opioid distribution up you could be on Oxy not feeling a thing

Once my nerve block wore off it was red-hot.
All of this. Most painful recovery I’ve ever gone through. Same as everyone else- recliner, ice, stay ahead of it with the pain meds

I've had 3 shoulder surgeries. 2 on my right labrum and 1 on my left labrum. Never take any type of pain medication before physical therapy.... not even an anti-inflammatory. The ice machine is a life saver at night. Hope you have a quick recovery. I'm looking at dual shoulder replacement surgery in my future. Currently dealing with a severed or severely pinched nerve along with both shoulders being blown out again. Its a bunch of fun.

Wear the damn sling even though it is a pain in the arse and don’t try to move that arm for as long as they told you.
This^^^^
My dad has had twice on the same shoulder, first time he wouldn't wear the sling like he was told

My dad had two rotator cuff surgeries last year. 80yo. Was back to work the next day
I bet he wasn't making snow cones or operating a jackhammer.

Rent the Game Ready Ice/Water Machine with shoulder attachment ASAP.

The sling while uncomfortably hot saves you from so much pain. I recently had an incident that required me to be in a sling for a few days and they had even used a stability stap so it was pretty hard to move. If I have another surgery i'll use that strap again.

How fricked was your shoulder before you had those surgeries? Mine was sore and popping for like two months but it seems like it's getting back to normal. I probably should go to the doctor just in case.

With shoulder surgery the difference in post-op pain between a good anesthesiologist and a great anesthesiologist is massive. If you didn’t have a great one it’s too late. At this point opioids are your friend, not the evil beast the media makes them out to be. 2 norco every five hours.

I did a few years back, took the pain killers the first day which knocked me out and so I flushed the rest down the touleit and survived on Advil. Don’t try to lay down. Go buy a recliner and know it’s your bed for the next month

Top shoulder surgeon told me 2/3 will get good enough with rehab shoulder exercises (for partial labral tears). Basically the exercises strengthen the surrounding muscles to help mask the partial labral tear. For somebody that still needs to use the shoulder for high level athletic performance, they would have to get the shoulder surgery.
Full tears need surgery.
You could go to a PT to get you started on the shoulder exercises.

The first one I had (if memory serves me correctly) about a 70% tear of the labrum with a bone spur that went out, up, then down to what was left of the labrum that wasn't torn. It would crack and crunch really bad and that was the bone spur catching on what was left of the labrum.
The second one on the right I tore the 30% that wasn't torn the first time and tore the 'front' part again.
The 3rd (left shoulder) I had about a 60% tear.
They all popped or cracked constantly and I had pain but I was able to deal with it for a long time.
The initial physical therapist (after the 2nd and 3rd surgeries) didn't understand how I was able to work without losing my strength. She found out that I had built up the smaller stabilizer muscles which compensated the torn labrum. While it allowed me to work years with the pain all it really did was to make the labrum much worse.
