Morning, I had a torn rotator cuff along with torn cartilage and bone spurs that had to be repaired/removed. Was told recovery is s painful, but damn, I’ve not even gone to bed due to pain.

Anyone had this before and any suggestions other than pounding the Norco pills?

Weed

But in all seriousness, no. I’ve never had one but my brother did and it took years to get his shoulder back right.

As for pain management, either learn to deal with/tolerate more pain or start taking the medicine. I’d recommend the former

Are you sure it’s not fibromyalgia?

I had both of mine done. It's a slow painful recovery. Best advise I've got is don't rush it.

I had it and that's about all you can do. Find you a chair to sleep in some pillows to support that arm and good luck sleeping. Sleep upright do NOT recline.

The problem is no matter what you do it is going to move that shoulder, even breathing. You just gotta tough it out and rehab my brother is a Bad Mother%^&*

I’ve had it done.

Just like everyone else said: recliner to sleep, constant ice, steady dose of painkillers.

Once my nerve block wore off it was red-hot. Good luck

send someone to Costco & have them buy you a recliner that’s gonna be your bed for the next few weeks. You will thank me later

Sleep in a recliner.
Did you get a pain ball??

Oldest son had his labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder done when he was 14.
They sent him home with a painball that lasted for three days after the surgery, after that all he took was ibuprofen.

Not rotator cuff repair, but a bankart repair (torn shoulder socket from dislocation)

Doc said he would scope first and only cut if needed. If he cut, incision would be 1-2 inches. Actual cut was 4-5 inches. He pun in 2 anchors to ligaments.

That was my most painful surgery. Also had a ruptured distal tendon (bicep tendon). The rupture was more painful the dislocation of shoulder but surgery/recovery was easier.

Have had both done.
Sleep in a recliner or similar for a few nights.
Prop up repaired arm with pillows to reduce stress on the rest of your arm. Keep up with pain management because once you get behind you’ll regret it. Get an ice water pump if they didn’t get you one. Works wonders.
Wear the damn sling even though it is a pain in the arse and don’t try to move that arm for as long as they told you.

Ice.

And Norco.

I've had a Total Knee Replacement.I had a device that wrapped around my Knee and circulated ice cold water around it.

I have a Bone Spur in my Rt. Shoulder.Rehabbing that without Surgery was painful enough.

It will get better.

Are you going to do Physical Therapy? They ice it good after a rehab session.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

It just takes time. I rushed my first. Bad move. The second was better and you’ll feel better in a few days.
Good luck.

Best of luck to you. It a long tough recovery.

Mine froze up and after 4 weeks of PT trying to break it loose, had to do the surgery again. Then got to sit in a continuous passive motion chair for 8 hours a day for the first 3 weeks after the second surgery. Also had Physical therapy 3 days a week on top of time in the chair.

Repair lasted 3 years before it started popping and having pain again. I’m gonna live with it this time.
