This guy gets it .

I hope no one else reading this ever becomes acquainted with that type of reality .

I remember that. It was after a visit to Louisiana and his experience at Tigerland.

I was there too ! Reagan was doing shots with Hodson and Eddie Fuller, it was right after the Earthquake Game[tm]…. Shaq was there too, on a recruiting visit.. Man, I’ll never forget that night.. cant believe you were there too, we probably know each other .

Hard disagree .

Drinking and driving is an epidemic in this country.. It’s still taken way too casually IMO and i still know people in 2023 who laugh it off and say they drive better ‘after a couple of drinks’… Until someone you know is maimed or killed by a selfish-*** drunk driver, you cant even comprehend .. there needs to be MUCH more of a stigma in this country with re to drinking & driving .

I wish they would come out with "Mothers against Texting while Driving" or "Mothers against Distracted Driving". I also wish they would go after these type of people with the same veracity as they did with drunk drivers. Distracted driving (using a cell phone) is one of the most selfish things you as a human can do while driving and there are a lot of selfish human beings that I see daily.

Agreed, but some of you are having a different conversation than the rest of us are having.. It is ILLEGAL in most places to text & drive, while it is perfectly legal in all of America to have 3 or 4 beers (depending on ur size, of course) then get behind the wheel of a car and get onto the road with me and my family, while thinking you are an excellent buzzed driver .

Mothers against drunk drivers has too much power. No one has the balls to push back against them.

They're still pushing today for even lower BAC limits and even "zero tolerance" for any alcohol before driving.

But your tolerance is not the same aa my tolerance. I can drink a case of beer or liter+ of liquor and still type and spell perfectly. Whereas you would probably be passed out in a puddle of piss. The idea that .08 is the same for everybody is absurd. I went to detox for alcohol before beause I knew I would be sick coming down, and blew a .36 after I got there. When they checked a couple hours later, it had actually gone up because I chugged a couple more beers to stave off the sickness before I went in. I blew a .39 the second time. That was average drunk for me, a cop there spent the whole time talking to me and couldn't even tell I was drunk other than the breathalyzer.

Wow. Congrats

His point was that 18 year olds would drink and drive at a high rate. That's not a responsible age.

It is but in no way is it enforced. Law enforcement could write tickets all day even if a minimal attempt to enforce it was made.

I’ll be in the minority and say Reagan was right. Don’t agree with the anti-federalism of it though.

Ronald Reagan would have been laughed out of today’s Republican Party for being a “RINO”.. he was a tad too moderate for the right-wing zealots of 2023 America .. on this drinking/driving issue, he was correct .

And 33 years later, fellow Alzheimer’s brother Biden decided that 18-year-olds can buy beer, but it has to be Bud Light.

I don't understand how this makes MADD look good then? They got their way and things haven't really gotten better.

With all the options out there today- Uber, designated driver, drinking at home, walking to the bar etc etc etc- there’s just no reason to ever have a sip of alcohol then get behind the wheel of a half-ton weapon…

Nah, an adult should be able to have a glass of wine at a friend’s dinner party and drive home. An adult should also know when they need to call an Uber out of regard for the safety of themselves and the innocent people on the road with them. I agree that there should be stiff penalties for drunk driving though.

Clearly this is an emotional issue for you so you’re not really seeing anything clearly or logically.

This isnt accurate. In some states you only get a citation for texting and driving if it caused you to be pulled over for a more serious offense.

And 2-4 beers will trigger.08 on most people. Which is why its seen as low.

I dont think you should drink and drive, but plenty of sober drivers out there killing people.

Just as dangerous as drinking and driving

That’s not true. It’s illegal to text while driving. You can do it, just like you can drink and drive, but in both cases you are breaking the law.

Can’t buy beer until age 21
Can’t drive until age 16
Can’t vape until age 18
Can’t buy tobacco products until age 18
Can’t rent a car until age 25?
Can’t get married until age 18

but you and the Left want to make it legal to chop off your genitals and take hormone replacement therapy at any age without parental consent. right?
