I've heard estimates as high as 90% of Native Americans were killed by a plague prior to Europeans settling. One sailor reported you could smell the smoke from the fires hundreds of miles out in the ocean. It wasn't a wilderness with just a few scattered Indian villages like people think.

I could care less about Columbus but I do love the paid holiday so the last thing I want to do is do away with a paid holiday

Wouldn't have mattered. A few boatloads of Europeans with flintlock muskets would have still been wiped out or turned back just as quick as the Vikings had the two groups encountered the same North America

I watched that series when it first came on - it proved to be just another reality show.
I don't believe anything they say - quit paying attention after a couple of months. I see advertisements for the show quite often because I watch History Channel a lot. Last week they were claiming to have found Aztec relics in there.

This story is legit.
If the shipwreck is dated pre-Columbus, history will be re-written.
If it is pre-Columbus, it's not going to be the Romans, though. It's gonna be Vikings with stuff they jacked from areas controlled by the Roman Empire.
