Did you do the auto conversion? I thought all JSARs were quartz.

Wish mine was an auto.

Look up the official repair shop on Marathon’s website. Guy does very good work in my experience.

Watch threads are always interesting as they're very personal. A few random thoughts as I have both Rolex and Omega watches.

1. Most non-watch luxury wearers don't notice watches so don't expect anyone to care what's on your wrist. Read:pussy is not going to fall in your lap because you're wearing a rolex
2. Rolex sells around 1M watches per year. It's estimated there are 30M fake Rolexs made globally a year. It's safe to assume most of the ones you see on the street are fake.
3. When I was consulting (Big 5) there was an explicit dress code when meeting with different customers. For any government meeting we were not allowed to wear nice suits, shoes or watches. I was told buy a $400 suit, a pair of lace up Florsheims and a Timex or Seiko. Financial services customers were the exact opposite. Know your customer.
4. The rolex will hold it's value much better than an Omega.
5. I prefer the understated look of the Omega.

There are websites (eleven james) that will let you rent luxury watches with a 6 month commitment.

That Tudor Black Bay is interesting. Thought the red bezel had the gold text and the blue bezel, silver?

I'm not reading through 10 pages of this shite. Have we gone through the exercise of ensuring that picture is, indeed, a real Rolex?

Lets validate that the Omega is the real deal while we are at it.

As far as I know all JSARs are quartz. I know mine is.

That's a Black Bay Black, it also has the gilt accents.

Okay, I wasn't being critical (we all spend "too much money" on things that interest ourselves). Just surprised. If watches do hold their value relative to other vanity purchases, good for the buyers.

It depends on the watch. Breitling hold about 50%. Omega maybe 50-60%, Patek and Rolex around 80-100% initially then inflation causes them to hit 100% easily after a few years. And of course different models have different residual values. It's a strange game.

As someone else mentioned that is a black BB but it indeed shows almost blue in the picture. The black and red both have the gilt lettering, I have both the red and black versions and both of mine are the older version with the Tudor rose on the dial vs the newer ones with the shield. I prefer the rose. The older ones also have the modified ETA movement vs the in-house MT5602 movement in the newer ones. I also prefer the look of the older bracelet to the "vintage" rivet look of the new one. The change happened in 2016. Here is a picture of the three new 41mm BBs.

While I would probably prefer the MT5602 movement you can't beat the ease and cost of servicing an ETA movement and I prefer the rose on the dial. Too lazy to take a picture of the rose dial but here is a "borrowed" one.

I still want the bronze version

I also have a Pelagos in black and frankly Tudor is one of the brands I could easily be happy with 20 or more of their watches. The Black Bay collection has exploded since 2012.

One of the other ones I like, I would like it less if Rolex made a ceramic Pepsi bezel GMT in steel...

I'm assuming you know that they announced this at Basel, right? It has the Jubilee rather than the Oyster bracelet, though.

I'm soon going to pull the trigger on a BB36, I wanted to wait to see if they would put the new MT5402 that is in the BB58 in the BB36, but I don't know if I have that much patience

Also, in regards to this

Have you seen the Bucherer version? If only I had a larger wrist...

Thanks for the link. I'll give them a call tomorrow. I really want this thing back in good shape and the bezel redone to where the number paint is more durable. I beat the shite out of this thing and other than the paint falling out it still looks very good.

I'll probably get it regulated and cleaned up and all that good stuff too. It's been on wrist 24/7/365 for 3 years now. Never comes off and that's my only reservation (besides price) with getting a rolex. I know they're supposedly practically indestructible but I think my feelings would be badly hurt every time I knocked it on a door frame.

Yes, I'm sure the waiting list is going to be absurd though.

My motto on stuff like this is buy what you like and if value is there later that is a bonus. But I tend to hodl my purchases for a very long time, a flipper / trader might have a different mindset.

I should have been more clear in I wish they made one I could get one for MSRP in the foreseeable future. I would prefer an Oyster but I have a couple I can swap out.

Actually, they moved the lug holes on the new Pepsi Ceramic GMT so that oyster bracelets won't fit. I guess they didn't want to totally piss off the people who purchased the white gold Pepsi GMT, so now you'll be able to determine easily which is a white gold Pepsi (Oyster bracelet), and which is steel (jubilee).
