They may miss out on a golden opportunity to get a boatload of customers here.

i have two roku TVs and 2 android TVs. I'll dropp google tv before swapping out hardware and adding extra dongles.
I basically keep Youtube TV for sports, and you guys have caused me to take a look at fubo. It looks at least as good.

Updated OP with new email:
quote:
Dear Roku Customer,
We are disappointed to share the news that Google has chosen to let the YouTube TV contract expire.
While this news is unfortunate, we wanted to let you know that we are taking an extra step to ensure existing Roku users like yourself retain access to YouTube TV while we work to reach an agreement.
We will always stand up for our users, which is why we cannot accept Google's unfair and anticompetitive requirements that would allow for the manipulation of your search results, impact the usage of your data and ultimately cost you more.
Our commitment is to always put your interests first and therefore we will continue to offer existing users access to YouTube TV unless Google takes actions that require the full removal of the channel. New subscribers will not be allowed at this time. It is also important that you do not delete the YouTube TV channel as it will not be available for download to Roku devices.
We remain committed to reaching a good-faith agreement with Google that preserves your access to YouTube TV, honors your desired search preferences and protects your data. We hope to update you soon.
Thank you,
Roku

It at least sounds like roku is trying to stick up for the consumer.

Just my luck. Dropped DirecTV last month, added YouTube TV and got a Roku Ultra for 1 TV.
Main TV has Apple TV so I guess I’m covered. They are fairly portable if there is a great need to swap out temporarily.
But I have a feeling Google and Roku will iron things out.

Just to clarify,
I just read that although you will not be able to download Youtube onto a Roku Device, Roku is NOT removing the channel for already existing customers. They are just removing the app from the store, not from the service entirely.

The channel will still be available for existing YouTube TV customers, but new users that wish to download the app from Roku's channel store will no longer have the ability to do so.
Roku is keeping the app available to existing users so that customers don't get caught up in the messy negotiations.

Was just about to post the same thing. Looks like I’m good.

I am amazed that Roku is standing up for users rights and not having your search results manipulated and the OT's answer is "go get a chromecast"
Important to remember Roku is trying to play a sympathetic role, that they're sticking up for you.
Like everything else, this comes down to money. Roku is obviously disappointed by the price Google put in the contract renewal more than anything else.
