Roku and YouTube TV (Google) Update: YouTube TV to be removed, YTTV response added

An email I received today about YouTube TV and Roku and Google's demands.

ETA 2: Youtube TVs email:

Dear Roku Customer,
We are sending this email to update you on the possibility that Google may take away your access to the YouTube TV channel on Roku. Recent negotiations with Google to carry YouTube TV have broken down because Roku cannot accept Google’s unfair terms as we believe they could harm our users.
Ensuring a great streaming experience at an exceptional value is the core of our business. We will always stand up for our users, which is why we cannot accept Google's unfair and anticompetitive requirements to manipulate your search results, impact the usage of your data and ultimately cost you more.
While we are deeply disappointed in Google’s decision to use their monopoly power to try and force terms that will directly harm streamers, we remain committed to reaching an agreement with Google that preserves your access to YouTube TV, protects your data and ensures a level playing field for companies to compete. We encourage you to contact Google and urge them to reach an agreement to continue offering YouTube TV on Roku and to follow standard industry practices pledging not to require access to sensitive search data or to manipulate your search results.
Thank you,
Roku

Dear Roku Customer,
We are disappointed to share the news that Google has chosen to let the YouTube TV contract expire.
While this news is unfortunate, we wanted to let you know that we are taking an extra step to ensure existing Roku users like yourself retain access to YouTube TV while we work to reach an agreement.
We will always stand up for our users, which is why we cannot accept Google's unfair and anticompetitive requirements that would allow for the manipulation of your search results, impact the usage of your data and ultimately cost you more.
Our commitment is to always put your interests first and therefore we will continue to offer existing users access to YouTube TV unless Google takes actions that require the full removal of the channel. New subscribers will not be allowed at this time. It is also important that you do not delete the YouTube TV channel as it will not be available for download to Roku devices.
We remain committed to reaching a good-faith agreement with Google that preserves your access to YouTube TV, honors your desired search preferences and protects your data. We hope to update you soon.
Thank you,
Roku
ETA 2: Youtube TVs email:

Our goal with YouTube TV is to offer you the content you love, delivered in the way you want — including on all of your favorite devices. To make this happen, we enter into agreements with partners in order to enable access to YouTube TV via different devices.
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to reach an agreement with Roku. We continue to offer Roku the opportunity to renew the YouTube TV deal under the existing, reasonable terms.
If you are not currently using Roku, you should not have any issues. For our Roku users, as we send this, you still have access to YouTube TV on Roku devices; however, Roku may choose to remove the YouTube TV app from their devices. We encourage Roku to continue providing the YouTube TV app for our mutual users.
Should Roku decide to remove the YouTube TV app from their platform, you can still cast to your Roku device from your mobile device, tablet, or computer by following these simple steps. You can also continue to access the app using all of the devices listed here.
In light of Roku’s current stance, we encourage you to reach out to their customer support team to request they keep YouTube TV on Roku devices here or tweet @roku.
We are committed to ensuring our members continue to have access to YouTube TV and will continue advocating on behalf of our members. For further updates on this issue and our efforts to resolve it, please visit this website.
Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team

Got that as well. I'm going to be pissed if that happens... it's wayyyy too cheap and easy to get those TCLs with the Roku Tv

I liked YoutubeTV but then they dropped Fox Sports Nola and the price got too high.

Any other streaming device brand or TV that is NOT Roku.
Some TVs, like Samsung, use their own UI. Some TCLs use Android TV instead of ROKU. Amazon Fire TV/Stick will still have it. Many other choices.

Yeah, that's all I have right now, and I use YouTubeTV for live viewing. They need to figure it out, or I'll probably go back to Hulu Live.

People are more than willing to give Google all of their most private and/or valuable data for free. I'll never understand that.

I think you are misunderstanding the issue. ROKU just won't have the Youtube TV app on their ROKU streaming devices. Many other streaming device brands out there you can use to still get Youtube TV.
That said, almost all my TV and devices are ROKU. I may switch to ATT TV. Love not having a contract.

Buy an Amazon firestick

We cut the cord before it was cool but we recently went back to Cox. They had a 2 year special that only cost $29 more a month over the gigablast internet to add their mid tier cable plus they include HBO max, Showtime and Stars free for 2 years. So far the internet has been flawless and I was going to sing up for HBO max anyway. I only really watch the Pelicans live right now, I can't think of any other live TV I watched. During the riots last summer and for the election there are TONS of free news channels, that is about all I would watch live.
We tried youtubetv, I hated it, I think we went through one month of the paid version after we exhausted our trials. It is too expensive for what you got.

I have YouTube TV and all of my TV's use Roku. If they get rid of YouTube TV , I'll probably just switch from YouTube TV to another service. The whole Roku system is just too easy.

Yep... which sucks, because I wasn't a huge fan of Hulu... the set up and user interface was not the best when I had it.

Google is dumb as frick if they think consumers will be more willing to change their TVs or streaming devices than the streaming services. If Roku loses YTTV I'm a Hulu Live man the next day.

No they didn’t. Bally’s sports (Fka fox sports) dropped all streaming services with the exception of att.

We just paused our membership until the end of August. We have a Roku TV, but we also have a chromecast we can use if this isn't all smoothed over by Fall.
Since the end of football/basketball I've found Youtube TV to be pretty useless. Any good show is on one of the streaming channels. When I flip and find something good it's almost always on a commercial. Even my pre recorded shows, fast forwarding through ads gets really old.
I can see if you're a year round sports person, but I pretty much tune out after football season is over other than LSU basketball/baseball. And then with those I don't catch every single game. $64.99 a month in addition to certain streaming channels that have better content is a bit much. Having Hulu ($12), Netflix ($13), and Peacock ($10) will get you more content than you can handle if TV is your thing.
Ozark
Dave
Yellowstone
Handmaid's Tale
You
Dead to Me
A.P. Bio
Parks
Seinfeld
The Office
Portlandia
That's just off the top of my head. However, if your main programming choice is sports you're kinda stuck with having to choose a compatible live TV option.

I prefer YouTubeTV... and honestly might just dig out a firestick if necessary, but hopefully they get their shite together or Roku gives in.

I am amazed that Roku is standing up for users rights and not having your search results manipulated and the OT's answer is "go get a chromecast"

YouTubeTV = fuboTV > Hulu Live
