I also can’t find anything Reiner said in regards to Kirk’s death that was ugly. He appeared on Piers Morgan soon after and seemed very respectful. (obviously that’s his public opinion, but still)

Ok. So you can throw your Christian virtue signaling argument out the window then.

Put your Jump to Conclusions Mat away. Hitler killed himself. It was after 3:00 A.M. CST when I made my first comment. It was already alleged that Reiner was stabbed to death by his son. It isn't my fault you didn't pay much attention in 6th or 7th grade Reading class when your teacher was hammering your brain about context clues.

He didn't that I can recall. And actually, in an interview, I think he expressed his disapproval in how that story unfolded.

And Trump's post is shitty. The guy is dead at the hand of his own son. I don't think many stories top that kind of betrayal.

Trump's post comes from years of built up anger at the attacks on him. That's not an excuse for what he did, he never should have posted it.

But it's like people are acting like this came out of nowhere. People celebrated both assassination attempts, cheered on Russiagate, etc. It's driven him crazy, much like what Rob Reiner was going through mentally.

This whole story is sad. This country needs a freaking Valium or two to stop this craziness.

Correct, Reiner never said anything negative about Kirk's death.

Reiner did attack Trump often, including after his first assassination attempt. Reiner blamed Trump for his own attack, which is standard for progressives.

Trump was a dick for this post, absolutely. He stooped to the level of his opponents (again).

agreed, but i fear we've far passed the Rubicon, as far as political discourse and disagreement goes... it's tribal now... to the majority of people out there, you are either in one camp or the other... period... there is no room for independent thinkers, or people who dislike either choice... anything that is said contrary to your belief, whatever it may be, that person is automatically put in opposition, regardless of any other view point or belief that they may have... it's crazy.. but it's where we are as a society, and it's sad

Rob routinely referred to most of the posters on the O-T Lounge as "MAGA Scum" and "Racists" and I'm OK with his comments because he is simply exercising his & our right to free speech which I hold dear.
We exercise that same right every other post on this forum.
He may have been a bit of a "Wingnut" but in no way do I believe he wished harm to come to anyone.

I don’t think he even has to mourn someone that hated him but maybe put the phone down and not tweet before making a double homicide about you ?

This wasn’t an example of owning the libs, guy and his wife were brutally murdered by their own son, it’s just weird to tweet that out and not think twice about it.

James woods, who one could argue is ate up with politics just on a different side, did a better job of basically saying we agreed upon very little but he was still a friend and this is awful. Thats all that needs to be said

Trump is an a-hole, no doubt. His brashness and willingness to fight back appeals to a lot of his voters, but he crosses the line way too often for my liking. This is another case of that. He made this death about HIM. Absolute wrong move. Say something nice, even if you don't mean it, and move on. Do not stoop to the level of your enemy.

Explain? I was always correct here, but then just to make sure I was slam dunk winning the Super Bowl by 100 forever the leader of the free world and Republican Party decided to mock Reiner’s death

I'm not disagreeing with you, I think he shouldn't have posted at all. It's petty easy to make a decision like that.

I'm only saying that Trump's post is explosive and fed from the anger that's been consuming him after years of attacks.

That's why I'm saying this country needs something to focus on, other than political divisiveness. It's fully consumed a huge part of the population, including me.

I've done much better lately at stepping away from it, and intend to do even more in 2026. It's just not worth it.

I certainly don't ever want to be a Rob Reiner or a Trump when it comes to posting tweets like that. Reiner was consumed with it just as much as Trump.

Trump really needs someone to screen those posts, there's no way someone would have let him post that crap.

Last known family picture - Nick looks dark and angry

His parents might have been doing their best to still him during his struggles including with events like Spinal Tap 2 premiere in the above picture, but a drug addict and/or someone with mental health issues can turn a situation like that into family being fake or used solely for publicity regardless of the truth and inflame them. He does look angry and lost.

You can see a huge difference with him in pictures from 10 or more years ago like below.

One of the things I had forgotten about was that Reiner used to be married to Penny Marshall or Laverne from Laverne and Shirley who also became a director like her ex and like her brother Gary directing films like Big, Awakenings, and A League of Their Own.

The fattest of lies

Agreed.

I've mentioned many times here I am a former hard core leftist. The acquaintances I still had in my life on that end of the spectrum ALL celebrated Kirk's death. They spent weeks posting the lies the MSM painted about his statements in order to justify why he should die, along with anyone that supported him.

The majority of them had dumped me after I stated men can't give birth. Had about 20 or more still in my social media and they all did the same thing I listed above.

The worst thing I witnessed was a friend from HS cheering on the death. Another friend of this leftist replied with a link that countered all of the lies. What did the lefty tell his friend of almost 50 years? "frick you. I don't care what he may have really said. I'm glad he's dead and anyone who supports anything he said deserves the same fate". The lefty then proceeded to remove his friend since grade school from his social media.

This is why I laugh at anyone that calls a Trump supporter a "cult" member. No Trump supporter I know calls for anyone's death, nor do they destroy friendships over politics.
