Down in Tennessee is my all time favorite of his. You Can't Keep a Good Memory Down hasn't been mentioned yet, I don't think. This lyric always stuck with me:
quote:
I sold the house we lived in and moved 1,000 miles to get away
But the feeling I was running from was waiting here when I unpacked today

I just posted this because in every thread that mentions a current celebrity you get "who"responses. I never heard of this guy and have no idea who he is.
They have a problem with it when it’s someone they care about
I’ve never heard of him before today either, but I don’t listen to country music
Seems like he was a good dude
RIP

Mississippi Moon by him is a severely underrated song
You never hear it played on the radio

Well, he was the black sheep of the family.

Lot of fake country guys (looking at you Indian Outlaw) liked to wave their Native American flags for cred but that song and its’ implications still haunt me.

Looks like it’s doing just fine right here, but the rest of us sure do appreciate your contribution.

And why do we have a music board?

To discuss music. So why are you currently adding traffic to a thread you think is misplaced instead of letting it sink if it bothers you so much?

A couple years ago I found out about Seminole Wind. It became one of my favorite individual songs over this time. Was sorry to find out about this. RIP

No mention of his song “1959”. One of his greatest.

Here he is sincerely playing 1959 at the Red Rooster Icehouse in tiny Hawkins, TX, May 2025. He still sounded so great and unique. Also sang many greats like Hillbilly Hollywood, Straight Tequila Night, Seminole Wind and probably my favorite Look Away (Dixie Land). Incredible night. So small and intimate.
