Dead dog was in a crate/kennel and couldn't access food or water. It died.
Wife of Hackman took pills to commit suicide.
Hackman found wife dead, and in the chaos of the moment trying to probably go outside and yell for help, or find his phone (remember Hackman wasn't a big tech guy and didn't like cell phones), the stress and grief gave the 95 year-old a heart attack.
Other 2 dogs had access to a doggy door.
Case closed.

So because he was in movies depicting technology advancements, you think he was a tech guy? Fricking sheep in this world...

Are you talking about dog years or human years?

How old are you? 13?

Sounds like her body was more decomposed but I'm not sure what all that means?
Sounds like one of two likely scenarios:
1.) Gene fell and died, in grief she overdosed
2.) She overdosed and died, in grief Gene fell and hit his head and died.

I ran across an interview where Gene Hackman talked about his dad leaving the family. Said he was around 13 playing with some friends down the street when his dad slowly drove by, gave him a wave and that was the last time he saw him. He got emotional taking about it and then joked that it’s been only 65 years. Here you got a man who’s an award winning actor and a master of emotional expressions but can’t hide his hurt emotion. Just reminds how important it is for a child to have loving parents in its life.
I had to look this up. You can tell he's very much affected by the memory.
I had also read that later in life he felt very guilty about not being there for his own family, always acting. He wanted their permission to do The Royal Tenebaums, because it felt almost too close to home (him being a shite father himself).

Yep! 13, and still outwitting and thinking more intelligently than you do.

yeah, i was originally unsure if they were referring to the dead dog AND a live one being in the bathroom...lol, i'm still not sure!
This is clearer.

The deceased dog was found near her body in a closet of the bathroom, but two healthy dogs were also on the property. One was running loose, while the other was seen near Arakawa's body.

Man, I knew i loved him as an actor but that video is tough to watch. 65 years and the pain is still fresh.

I wonder if his father was alive long enough to know what a great actor he became?

My fear is they were very private, and didn’t have a lot of day-to day contact with others. The wife was the caretaker for her husband and pets.
The wife died suddenly in the bathroom. One dog was stuck in a closet, and Gene was bedridden. Both Gene and the dog died of starvation.

It was funny because he’s one of the only sick bastards I can think of to do that, especially a GSD.
