Goid ballplayer, but a great broadcaster.

His Johnny Carson appearances were gold.

I saw him quite a few times on "The Tonight Show" back in the day and he was always fun to watch. He was given the name "Mr. Baseball" due to his more than 100 guest appearances.

His stories were funny as hell and he had no qualms about poking fun at himself. He and Yogi Berra were always fun to watch when they appeared with Johnny.

RIP Mr. Uecker

Ueck is the kind of guy who would have a roast at his own wake.

I’d pay the cover and want to be there for the version that gets blue.

FIFY, or that's the way he told
It on Letterman anyway. Great line.

His book "Catcher in the Wry" was a laugh riot and I would recommend to all baseball fans.

Those Miller Lite commercials were great. The guy was an institution in Wisconsin.

Great announcer and ambassador for the game, but let's not forget he was a legit major league player. He was regarded as a very good defensive catcher, with a good arm and good hands.

RIP, Mr. Baseball. You made it more fun for all of us.

Man this on his really hard for me. My dad and i were huge Ueker fans when i was growing up. As i sit here with my dad, as he is in his last few days of life, it is just a sad reminder that age is depressing.

Rip Bob. Lost s great one

From his wiki page:

quote:

A below-average hitter, he finished with a career batting average of .200. He was generally considered to be a sound defensive player and committed very few errors as a catcher, completing his career with a fielding percentage of .981. However, in 1967, despite playing only 59 games, he led the league in passed balls. At least a partial explanation is that he spent a good deal of the season catching Phil Niekro, who threw a knuckleball. Uecker often joked that the best way to catch a knuckleball was to wait until it stopped rolling and pick it up.
