My personal opinion is the right to work laws benefit the employer. They can fire you for any reason at any time. They can really give you the business. States that aren’t “right to work” states have much better employee conditions IMO.

If I’m the employer/owner, why shouldn’t I be able to fire you for any reason I wish? It’s my goddamned money you fricking ingrate.

Since your opinion is that non-right to work states have better employee conditions, I am curious: Is that opinion based on intuition and/or anecdotal evidence, or is it based off of facts?

If it's an informed and factually-based opinion, then may I ask what indisputable qualitative or quantitative information brought you to that conclusion, and how might I find it?

I'm generally curious, btw, but ONLY if your opinion is factually-based. If it's a mere opinion, then no worries; I have my own arsehole!

I'm beginning to think belonging to a union is akin to joining a cult. Now this person is say AT Will employment drives wages down, union workers produce better quality work than non-union workers. I'm getting every union-fed talking point that can be dreamed up. Logic has no effect in this argument.

You are kidding yourself if you think big corp wouldnt stick it to the working class without unions.

Like they do at the Mercedes, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota plants all located in the South and non-UAW?

$12.00 to $25.00 an hour.

Yep, those UAW floor sweepers, making $25/hour are why a lot of factories closed and moved to Mexico.

They are kind of stupid in the sense that people in the private sector already have the right to vote for their bargaining unit to be union or non-union. If the majority votes union, right-to-work just breeds a free rider problem and gives people a second bite at the apple to be non-union when they already had a vote.

So you are ok with being forced to pay union dues, and you don't want to be in the union?

Yeah, I just believe if you are getting the benefit of the bargained wage and fringe package and the union has to process your grievances, you should be compelled to pay dues. Plus, even without right to work, people have the "Beck" rights to opt of paying dues that go to non-core functions, like political stuff.

I’m sure there are conservatives who play in the NFL, MLB, etc.

It's still shocking at times to see people so glibly admit they're complete lack of character. It's as wormy as it gets to take the benefits of being in the union yet not being in the union and doing your share.

Unions are great for the subpar employee.

Hell even Ed Steimel before he died went so far as to put out a news release admitting that "the pendulum has swung too far" and construction workers were underpaid in Louisiana as a result.

On that, I can agree. Don't join the union, you don't get the priveleges of the union, like grievance representation. But, on the other hand, you aren't chained to the unions pay scale. The company can compensate you on merit, instead of seniority and other bullshite reasons. It bothers me that in unions, two guys, same time on the job, get paid the same, but one is a dirtbag, who does the minimum just to stay employed, while the other does quality work.

Doesn't happen like that at all. Even in a non RTW state.

The amount of pure horseshite you see here on the OT is amazing.

You are an idiot of the highest order. Hell, you might be the Grand Pooh-bah of Idiots. It took me all of 1 second to find this. I haven't even tried to find the news stories on the a-hole NYC teachers that their union is protecting!LINK

I'd like to know what company that is?

I've been in union jobs and both if I pissed dirty I'm suspended for 30 days and would be required to sign a last chance agreement that lasts 3 years where they could test me whenever they wanted to instead of randomly however names are chosen every month.

I've never heard of such a thing and can't believe that's true.

I remembered seeing this on the news, so I just googled it. I provided a link to the story in the post above. There's another about how the NYC teachers union protects dirtbags too. Google it for yourself and open your eyes. While you are at it, google union corruption and pension raiding.
