I thought that was the best job in the world - best job I could imagine. Ride around on the back of a truck - back in the day they rolled the metal cans. They had cool overalls - the whole package.

Sometimes I ride in the back of garbage trucks for my job. We'll do what's called a "trash pull" on a subject we're investigating. (Once someone disposes of their trash, they no longer have an expectation of privacy to its contents.) So we'll dress up as garbage men and tag along the back to get our bad guy's trash. But you can't just get his; you have to ride along for a few blocks to make sure everything looks natural to the house being investigated.

frick that job. Everything about working on a garbage truck sucks. It's freezing cold in the winter, hot in the summer, smells unbelievably horrid, and people look at you with this mix of pity and disgust.

I thought it'd be cool the first time I heard about it so I volunteered to do it. Now I understand why everyone in the office plays the seniority card to get out of trash pulls.

I've never really thought about what a nightmare it would be without garbage pickup for an extended time. Insects, putrid smell ,possible disease , etc.

I owned a garbage company a few years back this is dangerous. Those blades on the box can and have chopped people in half before. At Hwy speeds they should be in the cab.

Here comes the suit to ruin everyone's fun.

If I saw a white guy on a garbage truck I'd be suspicious.

When I was a kid the garbage men would ride on the back of the truck and get off at each house and empty the garbage cans into the hopper. That was the first job I aspired to do.
