What’s the purpose though? Humiliating the kids in hopes that it humiliates their parents to pay? Bold strategy, let’s see how it plays out

What the frick does that even mean.... and why the frick would I even know what a public school kid pays for lunch....

If I'm poor, then you must be the Sultan of Brunei...

I’ll pray for your soul

You don’t know any better. You’ve been indoctrinated since you were born and aren’t intelligent enough to see the light.

Thinking you should punish the people actually fricking up instead of their kids isn't a "consequence-free" response.

Two points:

The school has no mechanism for punishing the parents. Any action taken by the school will have to affect the kid in some manner.

Second, the consequence here is incredibly minor and has no long term negative effect on the child. Missing an hour of recreation, to which you were not entitled, is minimal.

I would support your position if the consequence was significant.

I figured it was different. Only reason I know employees pay $3.50 is last night she was telling me about a new kindergarten teacher bitching about being charged $3.50 for her lunch.

As for what my kids OT, I have no idea. See deposits like $50 or so into their account every so often. Then I'll get the auto call saying one of them is like negative $2 and we know it's time to put more in.

The poors and the dumbs need to learn that not everything is about them. Sometimes people get rewarded for good.

I'll conceded that point when you and your ilk actually use the word "fascist" correctly.

I got free lunch every year when I was in elementary, middle, and high school. There was never a separate line for those that got free lunch. Only thing I can remember that was different was in middle school...we had cards we picked up every week that they punched a hole in for each meal. Kids with free lunch had a different color card.

Not that big a deal and I know my parents were grateful that we qualified for free lunch and one less money worry for them.

Good deal

And you should probably not use the word "fascist" until you learn what that term means.

Damn, racist much?

My mom grew up dirt poor, shitty section of town, and her mom still had to scrape together enough money to pay for their lunches.

When I graduated college, the only job I could get didn't pay enough for me to live, so I got another job and worked 80 hours a week.

This is obviously not the way to go about it, but there has to be some sort of mechanism in place to show these kids not saying your debts is not ok.

No parent except OT parents would feel gratification from having their kids be rewarded for something they, as parents, are responsible for and obligated to do.

What exactly are the kids doing well at?

That teacher is an idiot then. I think most of us would be thrilled to get a hot lunch at work for only $3.50.

Especially one that included school cafeteria buttered rolls

I had reduced lunch all the way up to my 10th grade. Not a big deal, I didn’t care. My parents did the best they could

Now they have a PIN number the kid enters. Everyone has their own pin and there is no way to tell who is entering a pin that's connected to an account and who is entering one for free lunch.

You’re expecting elementary school kids to understand this little nuance?

“My friends are getting a party and I’m not because of something completely out of my control, but it’s not punishment”

My dad did this anyway

And I guess the teachers saw my deer meat and assumed I was poor so I got signed up for free breakfast

That breakfast pizza was the best

Lol. I mean you obviously don’t send your kids to private school since “school is free”. And almost everywhere in the country .50 cents is the reduced lunch price. You qualify for reduced lunch if you are poor. U mad
