So when are we going to stop paying for people on food stamps to eat processed junk foods and sodas? We pay for this crap and then pay for the medical costs of obesity

Beginning in 2026, states with approved waivers will prohibit SNAP recipients from using electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards to buy specific categories of foods deemed unhealthy. Although the exact rules vary by state, the restrictions generally focus on so-called junk foods—items that are high in calories, particularly sugar and fat, but offer little nutritional value.
yes, Louisiana is among them.

Rarely do you find obese elderly people.
I don’t care about pyramids.
Most of the time…Move your arse, sleep well, get sunlight, eat well (if God made it, close enough, rather if man made it, good luck), and stay hydrated throughout day.
Shortcuts never payoff over long haul. Yes, I am fanging injections. Don’t whine. See above. If you really have a health issue (like…really really do), ignore. Not speaking to u.
See u in elder land…

I try to limit my intake of red meat due to saturated fat. I eat a lot of chicken, turkey and fish such as salmon and sardines. I also limit the amount of cheese due for the same reasons. I do eat a lot of fruits and veggies though. I limit the amount of saturated fat I eat because of cholesterol.

Research indicates that high consumption of red meat, particularly processed meat, is associated with increased risks of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer (especially colorectal), and premature death.

The only thing the WEF food pyramid is missing is the Soylent Green at the very bottom.

I don’t think we should. Obese and poor people do have high medical costs, but they also die at a much younger age. Keep feeding them processed junk foods and sodas. Let them poison their bodies. Whole foods and good nutrients are wasted on them. It’s extremely selfish for me to suggest, but there are extremely selfish people on food stamps. Why must everyone else subsidize their selfish lifestyle, and compete with them at the grocery store over good quality meats, dairy, fruits, vegetables, etc.? I have to budget and make sacrifices to afford good quality food from the grocery store while some heifer with 6 kids from multiple baby daddies can use food stamps to cover $600 worth of groceries each trip to the store? frick that nonsense.

Yes, everyone dies eventually and end-of-life care is expensive. But that cost is relatively compressed in time. A few months, maybe a year or two, heavily concentrated at the end. That’s not what drives long-term system costs.
What actually bleeds the system dry is decades of chronic disease. Metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, kidney failure, amputations, dialysis, repeat hospitalizations, disability, lost productivity. Those patients don’t die quickly. They linger for 20–30 years generating continuous, compounding medical costs.
From a pure dollars-and-cents perspective, a person who stays relatively healthy into old age and then racks up high costs near the end is cheaper than someone who becomes metabolically sick at 25 and needs lifelong management. The latter hits Medicaid, Medicare disability, ER care, and public assistance over and over and over.
Cheap calories and poor nutrition don’t save money. They front-load illness and stretch the bill across decades.

You can do your own research, but one primary criticism is the heavy reliance on observational studies vs true double blinds. When the latter is done, there is essentially only positive effect of animal protein.
Observational studies rely on ex post facto questionaires filled in sometimes months after the fact. They also have ridiculous categories clearly designed to get the pre-determined outcome. e.g. There was one study several years back where it was revealed that the "meat" category included ice cream.
Also, since red meat has been so advised against for so many years, you get the effect of the people who are willing to go against that advice and eat red meat also tend to be very unhealthy in other ways because they ignore all advice (smokers, no exercise, etc.). That effect disappears in double blinds.
etc
