Rex is a garbage parade as far as what they throw. I usually don’t even stay to watch it. The only thing those folks are worried about it getting to their ball.

I’d much rather Rex go first & let Zulu follow.

I rode in Zulu and it was a blast. If you get a chance to ride on St. Charles on Mardi Gras day
DO IT!!!!!

That's one of the most ignorant things I've ever read.

Then they can stay stuck behind Zulu. If they don’t mind then I suppose nobody else should care. I’m surprised Zulu rolls so early.

Were you around when Comus had a parade?

Not likely.
The individual float necklaces are lovely. I tried to get all of them last year when the theme was the Palio in Siena.

I saw the last one go by in a stupor outside the Hummingbird Grill, after scarfing down a chili cheese omelette.

Glassman didn't throw me shite.

The problem with Zulu is 1) The King/Queen and every Zulu character which are elected positions in the krewe and a BIG DEAL stop at Gallier Hall to toast which really slows down the parade, and 2) the stretch on Basin and Orleans where the road is wide, but people are setup in the street and its hard to move them back. City is considering barricading part of that route similar to Canal Street to speed things up.

I didn’t read all the pages so something similar might already be up here, but I was at St. Charles and Julia right down from Gallagar Hall, it seemed like every float and band was stopping at the toast/viewing area.

It’s bad most years but this year was absurd.

Actually it used to be the truck parades following that were fun and threw a lot of stuff. The MG parades themselves weren’t all that. Maybe it’s changed.

Problem is the drivers. idk if they don’t pay attention or aren’t educated where the close calls are, but there’s room to fit the whole way down the route. But sometimes you have to hug different areas of the street.

Maybe I’m wrong but it seemed to be a bigger problem than normal this year.

That might be acceptable in the third world but in a city of 350k with hundreds of thousands of visitors, it’s not acceptable.

Respect the history, but they’re the modern day Comus if they had their parades now they’d be clowned every year
