I have a date set in my head (and heart) when I will retire. I will be 62 with 40 years (so as a FedGov employee I get the bumped up annuity) and will likely have 7 figures in the TSP. After that I build my house in East Texas and sell the one I have. If I need money then I work for the POA as their office manager.

INSURANCE across the board cost. Don't own nothing, but every month insurance cost me more then 3k a month.

The few people i know that have retired were in one of two categories. Either they couldn’t wait to roll out and are enjoying a great life Or were financially stupid or have several ex wives and can’t retire because they won’t have much to retire on
A third group: narcissist supervisors. They can't do without forced respect/attention.

In this group there are also those that actually believe they are so essential to a corporation/business that they see no way for the business to continue if they were to retire, and they are staying just to protect the other employees.

Amazing that some 60 year olds can't live on $65k/year.
I'm 37 and could live on it comfortably. I've said before that I was raised to think that we were poor. I know different now that I know what poor really is. How do people even make the monthly payments to live so far beyond their means?

I didn’t make the rules, but I’ll take advantage of it...
90% of the average of my 3 highest year average salary, until I meet the maker... I’ll take it.

This is mine as well, I'll be at a min of 60k(today's dollars) if I don't advance further.

My pension ( Teamsters Central States) does not allow reemployment. Especially if anywhere in the union there is someone else doing the work you want to do in a bargaining agreement.
Oh, and Central States will be broke in around 2025 so no pension after that. So much for a guaranteed pension.

I don’t love or hate my job, however, retirement does scare me. I might keep working if able. My dad thrived to retire, did so early and has had a bit of a rough road since.

I can retire at 52 in 10 years at 50% or at 55 in 13 years at 70%. I'm already thinking about a second career because I can't imagine not working while that young. That's not to say that I don't have many hobbies, but I feel like I may need the structure or I'll get depressed.
