You'd just be better off retiring where you are.

I’ve spent a lot of time at both.

Grand Isle by far.

Grand Isle has grocery stores, bars/daiquiris, marinas, restaurants, and gas stations.

Holly Beach has nothing.

I spend Thursday through Monday on grand isle. If you want easy living go for it. If I could do it now in my 30’s I would. Grand Isle can be a really great place if you take it for what it is.

Spent lots of time down in grand isle. Almost built down there. Last minute decided not to and shot over to Bay St Louis. Best decision I’ve made. May be something worth looking into. Fishing isn’t as great but way more things to do. Not to mention twenty minute boat ride out to the islands for clear water. Food for thought.

Not looking for glitter and glamor. Just a simple laid back lifestyle.

I live about an hour from the island.

Biggest limitation is that you are living on the edge.

You will either need to buy or build a home that can withstand a major hurricane and be elevated about 10 to 20 feet. The alternative is the RV route and be the first ones out for every storm.
