A little toke before bed has changed things for me dramatically. If I don't get my lil toke in, I'm about guaranteed to have twitchy arse legs that evening.

I've also found that when I do get the RLS kicking in, waking me up out of my sleep, a quick toke will nip it in the bud almost immediately. May sound silly but it's a neurological issue and the bud definitely impacts the nervous system. Works for my brother, as well.

If it's your 3rd leg, then I recommend just rubbing on it a little.

Does your wife have to repair the holes in the fitted sheet on your side of the bed when you kick for an hour or two?

I had a sleep study many years ago and they said that if there was a record for leg movements I would be number 1.

Could be from venous insufficiency. Go get it checked out. Pretty easy fix if you’re active.

Get it checked out. Get some basic blood work. Iron def anemia can cause RLS. And it can be treated with Ropinirole.

I assumed the guy got RLS while laying in bed trying to fall asleep. That's when it gets me. That or sitting in a plane and not moving much all day.

Exercise seems to help a lot as well.

I'm probably the board's foremost expert on it. I have had it for roughly 30 years. Drinking alcohol IS NOT the answer. It exacerbates the issue. When you get RLS your body is usually deficient in either dopamine or serotonin. Honestly if it's not bad there are options that you can take. The problem is the body is going to react to differing drugs like Nyquil or Benadryl differently than a normal person. You can dump a ton of dopamine into your brain by having sex.

Most pharmaceutical options will be Carbidova Levadopa, Mirapex, Requip and a host of other Parkinsons disease meds. What works for me is half of a narcotic like Hydrocodone because it surpresses your central nervous system.

Gabapentin is used to treat nerve disorders. What I thought was RLS was nerve issues stemming from a bulging disc. It was exacerbated by dehydration and fatigue. Prolonged sitting or lying down is not good. Physical activity and general movement helps. I'm not a big fan of taking medicines so I try to manage it.
