Restaurants that are still curbside only even though the state is wide open

I’m trying to get a burger with my boy HempHead at Dub’s but the restaurant is still on curbside when Alabama has been wide open for over a month. Pissing me off.

Crazy that you have to sit outside in your imaginary plane to wait on your food.

Burgersmith on Siegen is like this. I asked the manager about it and she said they can't get a full staff hired and trained.

With capacity limits, it probably saves them money to still do curbside

Probably one of two things. Either they can't get sufficient staff back into work because unemployment is still paying more OR they can't operate at a limited capacity (and the additional costs associated with full service) and still make a profit.
They're likely in a pretty shitty spot.
Direct your bitching to your local representative or the governor's office.

To be honest even in the urban areas we can’t get the staffing we need. Either perm or temp positions. Staffing request fulfillment rates are a little under 50%

Would you say it's because potential employee pool is getting unemployment? Feel like that amount (state + federal) is probably more than many are used to. Won't come back until that is exhausted as an option.

If you're in a state where they have dine-in with restrictions, its likely not financially feasible for them to open up dine-in.

Man, I love Dub's burgers. Didn't Lanier sell it?
Go grab some Whitt's BBQ and a Sundrop.

Is this rhetorical or can you really not figure it out?

Went to a restaurant today in oxford.. we STILL have to wear a mask to sit down... can’t refill our own drinks at the drink machine ( Employees have to do it for us ) , no condiments on the table.. no napkin dispenser of any kind .
MADNESS.

This whole thing is a bit of a completely novel experience so who knows. It’s obviously a contributor but don’t know if it’s fair to say yet it’s a primary.
I can say that we are looking forward to the end of July when it ceases to be a factor at all.

The hoax ends in July?

The answer is simple.
You can make more money being unemployed than working a half full restaurant.

A lot of them are having issues staffing wait staff back up because they are all making too much money on unemployment. True story.

How vocal you choose to be on topics you haven’t even bothered to casually educate yourself on is why you are a laughing stock on multiple boards.
See this thread OP, and your post here as well.
At the end of July, CARES supplemental funding for unemployment ends.

Curbside isn’t going away. It’s proven to be extremely popular with the general public. It’s one of those things where people didn’t really know how convenient it was until it was forced upon the entire industry. I think eventually it will probably level off, but not anytime soon.
The real issue is how do restaurants adapt to the demand while now being partially opened. The biggest challenge is that there is virtually no control over the pace of the orders now. The restaurant can be filled to the allowable capacity and get hit with 30 or 40 online orders plus phone in orders in a matter of minutes. So you not only need staff to manage the guests in the building but you’ve also got to have a team of people answering phones, taking orders and payments, bagging food up and getting it out guests in the lot. That also means managing the parking lot by dedicating a significant number of spots for pickup. Throw in the average idiot who calls during a 530 rush and has no clue what they want, and wants to spend 10 minutes asking questions and it becomes quite a chaotic shite show.
