I never tip at these type of places because you do not have a waiter or waitress during your entire meal

No this is Hobnobber Cafe in Metairie. We go there for lunch at least once or twice a week. Awesome food!

You just answered your own question.

A 10% tip is in order. You obviously are well treated, and you love the food. A decent tip is in order.

Exactly. What's a couple bucks for people who do a good job?

this. I always give a dollar or two if they do anything other than just take the order.

I'm in 100% agreement on leaving a $1-2 ... there is someone in my lunch crew that sometimes tips but agrees with some folks here that a) they don't make server wages and b) they don't 100% serve you (need to order at counter, refill own drinks (even though they would if you asked), go grab own to-go box).

No much nicer than Waffle House. Very clean and quality food. It's italian food and poboys with some random family recipes.

at places like this I usually tip right at 12% - 14% / to put this into perspective I usually tip 23% - 28%, so yes I tip, but not nearly as well.

Should you tip at a restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring you your food and clean off your table and dishes?

I give a half tip at these places - usually $1.00 per person eating.

The workers make minimum wage at least so no. I never got tipped for doing my job when I worked shitty service industry while getting through my undergrad.

If somebody is bringing me my food and cleaning up after me I'd feel like a jerk not leaving a few bucks.

subtotal if cash tip and total bill if CC tip

Easy way to do it for the mathmatically challenged(at least in NOLA and BR) is give a little more than double of the sales tax if you want to tip 20% as sales tax is 9%.

If there's a tip jar on the counter I always throw a few bucks in it when I order. I do this for takeout food too.

Leave about $3-$5 cash on the table for the busboy.

Do not tip on the receipt or the tip jar--Usually restaurant owners just pocket that shite.

Huh. My mother lives by there. I've driven by it several times. I might check it out. Anything that you would recommend?

This. It's not my job to subsidize restaurant owners charging insane beverage prices and undercutting their staff.

So like Hometown Buffet? You leave a buck a person at places like that.
