Eh, I somewhat disagree. Without an escort the procession is going to fall apart. Traffic lights will completely frick it all to hell.
They could simply change to patrol cars or suvs instead of motorcycle cops. Why do we need motorcycle cops anyway?

I was on here the other day bashing the BRPD but now I come to say I regret it after seeing this. I hope somehow the wife and child can overcome this and pray that they are taken care of. Thanks for the good men and women who serve honorably and dutifully. This is tragic.

It's probably hard for patrol cars to do all the maneuvering necessary to block a dozen intersections along the route and catch up to the front to do it again.

No he's not. Just like the arse that flamed in the original thread b/c I said it was probably some a-hole texting. There really is no need for it (I'm a peace officer too), it just exposes our guys to dangers for no reason. Motorcycles are much more at risk than regular units. I feel so sick for Totty's family.

Agree with this 100%. Regular patrol units do this all the time in my area. Not sure why any place still has a need for motorcycle units. Maybe they serve a purpose that I just cant see.
Either way, this is a tragedy for that family and pray they find some peace through this horrible situation. I hate seeing good people go out leaving behind such young children.

Very true. And those 45 mph zones on 4 lane roads where cars are turning left across and into oncoming traffic like that section of Jones Creek is as dangerous as it gets. You will constantly see people misjudging time and distance.

Crazy Stat.....I think in the history of BRPD 21 officers have died in the line of duty....6 of those have been motorcycle fatalities

I work in the chemical industry. If 33% of fatalities were from one activity, and there is an easy solution to avoid the situation that led to the fatality, I promise you procedures would be implemented to remove that hazard.
