rumored to have been a switch hitter, also rumored to have had an affair with Eleanor Roosevelt, she told Putnam when he asked her to marry him(and that was a financial arrangement more than anything ,) that she'd marry him but wouldn't be faithful to him

If anyone else was curious as to how a dozen visits, satellite imagery, drones, etc. hadn't sorted this by now...

The mystery surrounding the Taraia Object persists despite multiple visits to Nikumaroro Island because of several complicating factors. The object, believed by some to be the remains of Amelia Earhart’s Lockheed Electra, is located in a shallow lagoon near the Taraia Peninsula, but environmental and logistical challenges have hindered definitive identification.
First, the object is often obscured by sediment. Tidal currents in the lagoon deposit layers of sand and silt, sometimes up to half a meter thick, which can bury the object, making it invisible to researchers even during on-site visits. For instance, despite TIGHAR’s dozen expeditions between 1989 and 2019, the object was not clearly visible until a 2015 tropical cyclone temporarily cleared sediment, revealing it in satellite imagery from 2016. By 2024, it was buried again, complicating direct observation.
Second, the murky lagoon water reduces visibility, and the object’s location wasn’t precisely known until recent satellite imagery pinpointed it. Earlier expeditions lacked the exact coordinates, and tools like metal detectors or sonar were ineffective without a specific target area

They're going to waste all of that time and money just to find out it's a log or a rock.
Maybe they can spin it off into a series like the Curse of Oak Island?

Researchers zero in on Amelia Earhart's disappearance after 88 years
—They’ve said this for 88 years. Her whereabouts was a big deal in the 1970s, for example.

The TIGHAR hypothesis has various critics, with TIGHAR's founder and executive director, Richard Gillespie, described as a good showman who lacks credible results. A curator at the Smithsonian Institution's Air and Space Museum said: "Not to impugn [Gillespie], but I don't think he's found anything on any expedition."[
They found a finger bone but couldn't tell if it was human or turtle.

Wasn't there an event that happened in that area called WW2 where a lot of planes were shot down?
Could it possibly be one of those?

I know that place is remote and they've been out there before, but man that looks pretty close to shore. Can't you send one person out there to check it out?
No, they need to take a large team and their families out for an all expenses paid “research trip” to a beautiful isolated beach between Australia and Hawaii
