No. What is he doing to try and prevent this? Be specific.

He's mentally ill for politicizing gun control before the bodies are even cooled. It's disgusting.

Whats worse, him ruffling your sensitive sensibilities or the politicians that continue to let this go own?

frick timing, our politicians are letting domestic terrorism go unchecked and unfiltered on their watch and we have to sit back idly and take it. I could care less about the timing --- those people arent coming back and the only way to prevent it is to ACT and act NOW.

There was a mass shooting. I think we should ban guns.

How'd that work out for banning of alcohol? Banning of drugs? Rape is illegal, but that still happens, right? It's certainly not legal to make bombs from propane tanks but that's exactly what those Columbine loony toony trenchcoat dorky fricks did, right?

Banning anything only insures that law abiding folks can't possess it.

How about proposing some ideas which might actually help to curb these mass shootings?

Hate to tell you, but if someone intends to kill people, they will do it. They will find the means to a gun. If one isn't available, a bomb, knife, car, whatever it would take. That mental person won't say "well, can't find a gun to murder people with, guess I'll just let it go and forget about it"

That entire statement rests upon the false premise that gun control prevents this. That has been equivocally disproven throughout history. Chicago bans guns; they still have (lots and lots and lots) of murders.

What about New York and what Rudy Guiliani did ?

Is Chicago just an outlier or is it representative of the trend?

Aw, did I insult your icon? Don't worry, I'm sure you can find some other demigod to parrot instead of thinking rationally for yourself and trying to engage like a sensible, semi-intelligent person, yes?

2nd Amendment was also written at a time when "arms" = flintlocks. Times have changed, it's about time we do too. I'm not opposed to gun ownership, but I think there 100% needs to be stricter gun control. Tragedies like today prove that over and over again.

WHICH IS WHY OBAMA SHOULD BE PUSHING MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS INSTEAD OF GUN LEGISLATION THAT WILL NEVER GET PASSED.

But hey that doesn't fit into the agenda. Why make the world a better place when you can bang on a drum to make yourself look good.

The Oregonian is now reporting the story about the religion angle. So it's not just right leaning news sources...

quote:

The shooter at Umpqua Community College on Thursday asked people to state their religion and then started firing, one student said.

Kortney Moore, an 18-year-old, told the News Review she was sitting in her writing class when a bullet blasted through the window. She saw her teacher shot in the head then noticed that the shooter was in the classroom.

Moore said the shooter told people to get on the ground. He then asked people to stand up and state their religion but started firing anywhere. She was on the ground next to people who'd been shot.

The 2nd amendment, in its current construction, is wholly inadequate and needs to be revised to fit the advancements we have reached as a country.

We talk about all our greatest, but we act as uncivilized as some third world countries and no one seems to care because banning it may affect their pocket books.

I find it very perplexing that not a single detail about the shooter or shooting has been released outside of vague numbers of the deceased and the fact it was a "long gun"

What can he do without the Senate and a republican faction of congress that will unilaterally oppose anything he puts forth out of principal for their dislike for him?

Yeah, I would think all mass shootings in public places like schools are a form of terrorism.
