Reports indicate that the White House may extend the freeze on student loan payments again

How many of you (other than doctors) have student loan balances over $50,000?

The Biden administration’s Department of Education directed its federal student loan servicers not to notify borrowers that payments would resume after May 1, indicating that the administration may once again extend the pause on student loan repayments, according to reports.
CNBC reported Wednesday that the federal student loan servicers, who were expected to begin sending out letters to borrowers at the end of the month, are holding off on sending out notifications for the time being.

A spokesperson for the Department of Education told CNBC that it was communicating on a regular basis with federal loan servicers about the “type and cadence” of outreach the servicers make to student debt holders.
White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain said in an interview with the left-wing podcast “Pod Save America” that the Biden administration was waiting to make a decision on student loan debt before it resumed payments. “The president is going to look at what we should do on student debt before the pause expires, or he’ll extend the pause,” Klain said. Biden previously campaigned on canceling tens of thousands of dollars in student debt per borrower, and released a memo in November which claimed that Biden has the authority to cancel student debt. Dozens of progressive Democrats have called on Biden to cancel up to $50,000 per borrower.

They'll be finding excuses from now until after the 2024 election.

He's going to pause them until after the midterms and then the dems will do everything in their power to make people miserable while blaming Republicans.

Don't worry, they'll still find a way to frick us. At least those of us with that much student loan debt that got a useful degree and a decent job. In the long run it would still be free money for me, but it would really suck to get hit with owing extra taxes on an income increase of 50k because that's what they classify it as. I don't know if that's the plan, but it probably is, again, at least for those of us that aren't baristas with over 50k in loan debt.
I'm under 50k now and still paying. I won't bitch if it happens. I got charged way more for my education anyways since I came from out of state.

Meanwhile, the interest keeps racking up.
I read this yesterday......
‘I’m so confused.’ I’m a school nurse who took out about $30K in student loans — but over the years they have ballooned up to $96K. How could this even happen and what can I do about it?
UN-F*CKING-BELIEVABLE
How in the ever-living F*CK did this stupid b!tch get into any college, much less make it out of one???

I've already been notified multiple times about payments resuming even though I never stopped paying

Why?
Young people need to get back to work. Paying off your debt is good motivation to find a job.

There's missing information. Was she just not paying them at all and for how many years? Even paying the minimum through one of the many repayment plans offered, that won't happen.

I'm going to be kind of peeved that I kept paying through the pause if the whole thing gets cancelled.

Of course they would. Why would anyone expect this administration to anything different than pander to the green haired trannies with face pierced progressives? They told you what they'd do, and moderates still voted for them.

Of course you won't complain. You're totally fine with asking ME and every tax paying citizen on this board to give you an enormous financial windfall after we've already settled our debts. Where do you think this money comes from? Why do you think you don't have to pay off a loan that YOU took out and signed for? And you didn't have to go out of state for school.

What? Comfortably spoken when behind closed doors around other Democrats?
