Beauregard’s nickname was “the little black Frenchman.” It’s an inconvenient truth for the woke crowd.

You mean violent crime didn't go down once that mean ol' statue was taken down?

Well clutch my pearls.

Lowest it's been since Southern Democrats were in charge.

So, I guess it did.

You’ve heard it said that those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it? I would argue that those who shite on their own history are doomed to live in shite.

Oddly enough, the first time I remember visiting Lee Circle I encountered human feces on its steps. It didn't appear to have been in protest, just some place a passerby decided to drop a deuce.

How was he (or any other Confederate soldier or sailor) a traitor? He resigned from the U.S. military before taking any commission in either the Virginia or Confederate armed forces.

PGT Beauregard was a Louisiana man. I say honor those who have strong Louisiana ties or are from Louisiana.

What did Robert E Lee ever do for Louisiana directly?

Maybe it’s just me, but I’d rather statues of winners, and successful people.

Like maybe a guy that was a big part of winning the Mexican-American war?
maybe someone who was also once Superintendent of West Point.
maybe even someone who as part of the US Army helped win skirmishes against Rebels in pre-Civil War buildup?
somebody som well respected in the Military that Abraham Lincoln made him a Colonel of the Cavalry?

a guy that despite being outmanned nearly 2:1 for virtually his entire time leading his army had nearly 3 times as many wins or stalemates in Civil War Battles than he did defeats?

I don’t care who they are and the only winners that have ever been in NOLA are the Saints

a team with an-time losing overall record?
a team with an all-time losing postseason record?
a team with nearly twice as many losing seasons (33) as winning seasons (18)?

The YMCA used to be at Lee Circle, too

General Lee was facing north, in a city that really doesn’t use the cardinal directions - with the YMCA behind him - he was always reminded the ‘Yankees Might Come Again.’

Named US Army accolades, but celebrate him wearing a combatants uniform.

A group of Marines under the command of 1st Lt. Israel Greene. Lee and JEB Stuart were there as well but the Marines actually went into the armory where Brown and his group of terrorists were holed up

When Brown was hanged in December, Stonewall Jackson was the Virginia State Troops officer in charge of securing the prisoner and the execution site.
