NOLA probably isn't for you then.

There's actually some pretty nice neighborhoods in Marrero. Especially going toward the back of Bariteria.

1. Single or married?
2. Do you have kids?
3. Is your job in the CBD, Westbank, East Jeff (Kenner, Metairie), New Orleans East, or some other neighborhood in the city limits?
If you're single and on a budget working in the CBD, I would live either in Algiers Point, Irish Channel, the Marigny, or in Bayou St. John.

St Bernard is making a comeback if you are looking for a nice house with great value, safe, close to downtown, and public schools you can actually use.
But you have no kids and want to rent. So I'd say rent a nice apt in the warehouse district or mid city.

Married with no kids. Job is near the CBD on the FQ side.

Just to help with real commute times. I live near Cleary between W Napoleon and W Metairie and my house to LSU Health by the Superdome never takes me longer than 15 minutes either way at any time down Airline even when the interstate is a mess.

Are you really promoting St Bernard public schools?

Check out Algiers point . It has some charm to it.

Uptown and Irish Channel are the best.

Agree. And the ferry is a nice way to commute.
Just be sure to live downriver from Opelousas Avenue.
