That's just a rain wrapped microburst...

Disappointed. I wanted to see video of the rocket and all in the tornado riding it up.

That's awesome. I was expecting a shoulder mounted launch, not an Estes rocket!

Was the rocket named Toto?

Sounds like Reed threw a hotdog down a hallway.

Do we get any valuable information from these storm chasers or are they just adrenaline junkies getting footage for the highest bidder?

Many (probably most) of them are meteorologists or are at least trained storm chasers who contribute to the meteorological community.

Tornado sucked it all the way up to over 30,000 feet

I guess that's what I'm getting at. What valuable information have they obtained in the last 10 years that actually helps society, i.e. better early warning tech, etc

Every time I see his name I see Weed Trimmer.

Warning times continue to increase due to the research that these storm chasers engage in. They also are valuable eyes on the ground when a storm is approaching a populated area. They call into local news stations who are covering severe weather outbreaks and give them vital information to pass onto their viewers.

I'm going for number 2.
Frankly I'd like to see some take a flight like the dude with the sweet dually equipped Suburban in Twister.
