Brian Redman. Local legend in the sporting goods world. Anyone know what happened? Was only 56.

Brian Franklin Redman, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the age of 56. Born September 12, 1970, Brian was a graduate of LSU, where he earned a bachelor’s degree, and was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. Brian was the proud owner of Red Stick Sports. Brian had a lifelong love of sports and especially enjoyed football, baseball, basketball, and soccer. An avid golfer, he won numerous long-drive competitions and enjoyed visiting some of the country’s most prestigious golf courses, including Augusta, Pebble Beach, and Spyglass Hill. Travel was another great passion of Brian’s. Of the many places he visited, London, England, became one of his favorites. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering and coaching youth sports, sharing his enthusiasm for athletics with others. Brian is survived by his parents, Jon F. Redman and Joy Jumonville Redman; his sister, Erin Katherine Redman Bruner; his brother-in-law, Joseph Scott Bruner; and his nephews, Jon Thomas Bruner, Joseph Winford Bruner, and Henry Wells Bruner. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Peggy Smith Jumonville; maternal grandfather, Irwin Cyril Jumonville; paternal grandmother, Esther Kettring Redman; and paternal grandfather, Horace Edward Redman. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A committal service will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church Columbarium by Deacon Kirk Duplantis. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Bruner, Jon Thomas Bruner, Ford Bruner, Gary Womack, Brad Womack, and Henry Bruner. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Down Syndrome Awareness Group of Baton Rouge or St. Lillian’s Academy in Baton Rouge.

He was the owner, not just a manager. I'm pretty sure it was a family business that he took over at some point. I actually knew him many years ago in the late 90's and early 00's. He was one of the nicest guys. Way too young. I have some friends who were still close with him who are devastated...

Damn, that was one of my first jobs growing up. He was a good dude.
My favorite memory we had a laugh about... Some school ordered shirts or whatever from the uniform department. Under sport, they put "Learnin'"

I'm glad to see that Red Stick has survived the big box stores like Academy and Amazon. I bought my first baseball glove from there in 1987. Rawlings Dave Winfield model. Still have the damn thing.
RIP baw.

Unfortunately you are probably correct. Brian was always a big guy. His nickname was actually "Tiny".
I was heading in this direction, but I was diagnosed with prediabetes at 39 and lost 70 pounds and stopped drinking, started exercising, cut out fast food, etc.
I am now much healthier at 50 than I was in my 30's....

Great guy that will be missed!
Went and got some things from him before football season kicked off, he was always a big part of local youth sports leagues and donating anything he could.
