Basic details would be helpful if you want serious responses. Where was it, who issued it?

Feel free to pay these for us. It's people like you they are counting on to just pay it whether it is right or wrong, legal or illegal

Bumping this for a similar question.

Do the speed cameras have to be marked with a sign saying "Photo Enforced" or something like that?

Pretty sure I'm going to get one from Harrison & Marconi, but there is no sign about a camera or what the speed limit is anywhere on that part of Harrison.

This is in New Orleans.

BR doesn't have anything better to do than send notices about a red light ticket. Meanwhile, you can kill someone in New Orleans and get away with it, if there weren't any witnesses.

Yep. I got one on Carrollton a few months ago on a day that school wasn't in session. I was a big 6 mphs over. I wish I was lying.

the work around is to re-register your car and get different plates

yep.

Just wait until you rack up $350 in fines. then Go to DMV and decide you want the LSU plate, or a Saints plate... Just keep doing this every so often.

6. If threatened with a collection notice or a harassing phone call, do the math. ATS and RedFlex send out thousands upon thousands citations each and every day. This is profitable for them to do, because many people are scared into thinking they have to pay (the media plays a large part in this) and because it's the "right thing to do." But think about the numbers ...

This was a post by WillCover that I bookmarked a while ago. No clue if any of it is true but it sounds like he knows what the frick he's talking about.

Photo enforcement companies usually charge a flat fee (for any aggies reading this, that means if the camera issues one or 100 tickets, they get paid the same), so I call bullshite and question this dude's credibility.

What are consequences if I just keep ignoring it?

My daughter got one in BTR shortly after I learned that these are civil fines and have no criminal enforceability by LA law - i.e. no jail, no record. I decided to stiff it. I wound up paying it because in their second or third threat letter they said they would boot my car if they found it in the city limits. Since my daughter was living at LSU and thus in the city limits I figured she would get caught and then I would have to pay the increased ticket and the fee to get the boot off...

In BTR they don't do anything but send the letters. They currently don't turn them over to collections or boot people.

In New Orleans they take it more seriously and do boot cars for it.

I ignored one and they finally stopped sending notices after 4 letters.

The only way they are going to make people pay is to get you at the DMV or Inspection Sticker place but it is my understanding they don't have a way to turn the civil penalty into a criminal penalty yet.

A fair amount of people pay these so it is free money for EBR so the only people that lose from people not paying are the camera owners.

F them.

I got one in New Orleans

paid it but they said I was late.

Sent me a 75.00 late fee.

I was so mad i paid an attorney to write a letter. He basically told them that they were in violation of the fair credit laws and if they continued he would file suit against them. Never heard a thing after that.

I don't understand how it's illegal for them to send you to collections but it's ok for them to tow or boot your car.

Received a camera speeding ticket in Baker did not pay it received two or three notices with the increase in fines- monitoring my credit report on credit karma, I noticed in October that they recently filed with a collection agency - reported this to trans Union indicating just like willcover said that I entreed no contract with this company within one month it was off my credit report---
Tldr willcover is correct

driving down Carrolotn a little earlier I noticed that not only are the school sign lights on (at noon) the camera is flashing abyone doing over 20mph.

This stuff is a scam and anyone who says "just pay it" is a tool.

Change your plates if you get more than one.

Also I seriously seriously doubt that this can drop a Fico more than 20-30 points. (Hell I doubt it can even hit a FICO) so I don't believe the "I couldn't finance a house because of a red light ticket claim"
