Me and my significant other moved to a new house in a safe area of minneapolis. I am interested in purchasing a gun and keeping it at home. It will be mostly utilized for family protection and occasional shooting a gun range for fun and practice.

What’s a good option for a handgun?
Is the 9mm pistol a good route to owning a first gun?

Ask your gun dealer for the jam-teen eleven. He will know what you mean.

Another question. Better option of purchasing online or at a shop?

go put your hands on the gun first either at a gun shop or like an academy first for sure.

buying, find your best deal. ship to an ffl and pay them their ffl fee when you pickup.

If they have a gun store that will let you try before you buy that is what you need to do. See what is comfortable for both of you and you might want to consider buying 2. One for each of you that way you don't have to compromise on what is somewhat comfortable.

If you take a hard look at the best home defense weapon especially for one will minimal handgun experience you will likely conclude the best choice is a shotgun.

Go get a Taurus.38 snub nose. Cheap, reliable and fool proof.

Official Red Ryder, carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle, with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time.

Maybe for a woman. A real baw needs a .45 as his first handgun
