Raising Mentally Strong Kids. The author is a bit of a quack doctor so you have to take a lot of it with a grain of salt, but the core ideas and methods are sound: making kids that aren’t soft, entitled shite bags through providing safe environments for them to fail, make mistakes, have responsibilities, get hurt, be bored, solve problems, do things for themselves and learn how to deal with it before they turn into helpless adults.

You don't need a book. Just roll with it. You'll figure out what works best for your family.
