About to get quotes for a slab for a home generator.

Size is roughly 4.5-5ft x 2.5-3ft x 4-6 inches thick.

TIA

I could, but let's be honest, I just don't want to and I can afford to pay someone else.

same...probably do that with a couple of sacks that you could mix in a 5-gallon bucket.

You and a couple buddies could knock that out in no time with 8 bags of concrete and a case of beer baw

In my experience most concrete guys would charge you double for a job like that just because it isn't worth their trouble. You might be able to find a local handyman to do it for you.

You can buy that already prefabbed and just set it. Your generator guy should know. Might need two. I have then under my ac units. You would be very lucky to have someone come pour that.

I just poured a medium sized patio.

16' x 24'came out to around $2k. That was with removal of old patio concrete, too.

Don't brag about being able to afford to pay for it and then come asking for a reasonable cost estimate. Because you're not going to get one.

It's not bragging. I know it isn't going to be anything particularly expensive.

At least buy the material yourself or you’re going to be had. That’s too small a job for a legit contractor to bother with. I agree with the poster that recommended getting the generator guy to do this for you.

This is probably what I will end up doing. I have seen them it just didn't even cross my mind today when I was thinking about it.

How much do those bags weigh?

For that size that’s less than a half a yard of concrete. Buy sacks and do it yourself.

Any new houses going up in your subdivision? Go talk to the Forman and see if they’ll cut you a deal for a couple hundred bucks.

at the biggest dimensions, 5 by 3 by 6", you are barely over 1/4 of a yard of concrete. It will cost you probably 3 to 400 to get a truck to your house with concrete in it so bagcrete is the way to go here. Whether you hire someone to come in and do it is up to you. I would think you will need to find some day labor to come over, any company will charge you a mobilization type costs that will cost more than the slab itself unless you have some other work to do while doing it.
