So this isn't totally true. There are many reports about schizophrenia in other countries where the voices are very "happy" and positive. They notice more and more negative voices here in the USA and other "advanced" countries. They think mostly due to so many negative messages being shoved down our throats. It's extremely interesting if you want to spend the time reading about it.

True, some cultures even going so far as considering the voices to be helpful and a blessing. The impact culture has on reality is fascinating.

The game HellBlade was developed to give the player a sense of what it is like to have schizophrenia and has a similar effect to the video you posted with constant erratic inner voices. It was one of my favorites of the last few years.

So it’s like walking around with a few annoying assholes that won’t leave?

Seems better than posting on the OT.

That is interesting and a subject that I am intrigued about. I'm learning as much as I can about autism/Asperger's right now

I have terrible auditory hallucinations, mostly only during prolonged gaps in sleep.

But never a few voices, always 2, just 2 ppl talking about me and not to me.

Knowing the video was only like 5 mins long made it much more bearable. It that was non stop, it would get intense very quickly. Have to admit, a couple times when the voices yelled, I kind of jumped and can very much see how if it was real, how a person would react. Overall, that is very sad.

It definitely varies. I had a client a few years ago who I could tell was having a worse day than usual. I softly asked him “are they loud today?” He winced, and shook his head yes. At that point, I knew my job that day for him wasn’t to accomplish anything other than to get him out of the courthouse as quickly as possible.

That deep voice is a pretty good depression simulator too ha.

When the depression gets overwhelming, that deep voice is pretty much everywhere I go, except that it sounds far far more normal which makes it even worse.

I was just making a funny on my previous post, but I’m sorry you have to deal with that. Must be like having two very annoying mother’s-in-law walking around you the whole time.

This is why I had to stop smoking weed. I wasn't having auditory hallucinations, but the paranoia got to be too much. That voice that was telling him "Look out. Don't go in there." And especially "She knows" was the inner dialogue I had with myself every time. I was convinced everyone knew I was high and we're gonna call the police. As soon as I would come down I would realize how stupid it was, but it was more terrifying than fun most of the time.
