I don’t have one and just renewed my license. I fly a ton for work and have pre. I will not be getting one. I have a global ID that will suffice just fine.

Traveling with your passport is the way to go even on domestic flights. Way easier to just scan and go and it’s universally accepted.

I renew my DL next month. Can anyone tell me what I will need to bring to DMV to get this Real ID? I sincerely appreciate it.

Serious question: how is it OK to require this to travel between the states but racist to require minimal ID to vote?

Tell them you are a sovereign citizen and don’t jump through these ridiculous hoops. They are playing you people for their amusement.

I just want to be able to get on a plane and fly if I need to. I can’t risk showing up at the airport and being turned away on an important flight.

They legally can’t turn you away if you tell them you are traveling as a sovereign citizen. Ask for a supervisor.

I still have the old school license. My license expires in May; apparently they weren't offering or didn't require it when I renewed my license 5 years ago.

Yep yep. I carry it in my wallet behind my DL, just in case. Also handy if your license expires and the dumb shite kid at Whole Foods won’t sell you wine because of that fact

No
Passport trumps everything
To get in the fast line to re-enter you need Global Entry
Certain countries you need a visa

Then don’t try this sovereign stuff. You can be halted from an international flights. And domestic maybe you can fly, but exactly how long do you want to spend arguing with a TSA agent/supervisor? You don’t think they will keep you there long enough to miss your flight ??

Not a worry here. Not leaving country and don’t plan on going into a federal building anytime soon.
