Louisiana collects no property taxes now so how will they double, triple or quadruple???

I think he meant Louisianans will pay more due to the Parish and Local governments having to compensate for more and more lost state dollars with the expansion of programs in the state and corruption. I look for JBE to spend the money as wisely as Blanco did, then for constitutional amendments to come up where politicians politic their base to protect this money because xyz, when xyz is really their retirement fund due to kickbacks from contractors. You would think the people of Louisiana would get fed up with the corruption and mismanagement, but we keep re-electing state reps who are part of the problem and keep voting on constitutional amendments that continue to drive budget numbers through the ceiling and beyond what the state can afford.

I bet if he offered to rent it people would be knocking down the door.

At this point I would expect most people to be looking for a rental while they rebuild, not looking to buy.

I wouldn't think the people that want to relocate due to flood loss will be prepared to buy any time soon?

People are asking for $125/sq ft for houses that are 25-30 miles away from ANY significant job centers

So real estate not in BR, but outside of BR is what you meant to say. Oh and I don't know where you paid less than $150/sf for the last decade inside of BR in anything other than a shithole.

Don't hate capitalism my friend

Acting like building/development is capitalist is a fricking joke.

Zoning restrictions, an enormous lobby, and politics make it a lot like insider trading.

$125 is the average rate before the flooding. That is assuming the house has some basic improvements like granite tops and the likes.

If you don't like it, sell your house for that inflated price and GTFO.

I bought my house last year for $120 sq/ft in Baton Rouge. It was on the market for 1 day.
Sold my house in Livingston Parish for $123 sq/ft. Sold in 2 days.

The house across the street from me recently sold their house before the flood for $135 sq/ft. Sold in less than a week.
My buddy in Ascension recently sold his house before the flood for 135sq/ft. Sold in less than a week.

I think you're full of shite Mr. Device.

Also, just b/c i live in Baton Rouge now, doesn't mean you just get to waltz through the streets and get to work in no time at all. When we lived in Walker, it took my wife 30 minutes to get to work, 21 miles away. We now live 6 miles from her work and it takes her 20 minutes to get to work. Unless you live around the corner from your work, traffic will get you whether you live in the city or in Ascension/Livingston.

Really? That's almost as asinine as the OP.
