Does he have a physically demanding job like pipe welding or plant operating where he works long late hours? Maybe he worked a ton this week and needed to sleep in on his first day off.

The latest I've slept in a decade is maybe 7:30AM after drinking a fifth of Stoli, get up at 3:30-430 on average have worked from home for 8 years.

This. Maybe small talk and fake pleasantries make the dude uncomfortable. Maybe he knows he's looking at a day of doing just that, so he soaked in some me-time before coming down. Maybe he's hungover if y'all drank last night. Maybe he's catching up on sleep he hasn't gotten.
I bet OP wouldn't be bitching if it was reversed and he was in bed at 8:30pm due to being tired.

Lol- i started a big fight (wife yelling at her sister in front of our niece lol) bc i would constantly bitch to my wife that our BIL would always try to take over my grill (who touches another man’s grill???!!??) anyway…that one Christmas, my wife had had it lol…it was awful and we still haven’t recovered
