You're doing great. Keep on doing what the PTs say and you'll be alright. It might take a little longer than you'd like, but keep at it.
My brother had some aphasia with his second stroke. It was seriously frustrating for him initially. He had trouble speaking and typing, so it was hard to communicate. Fortunately for him, he had dramatic improvement. It can and will get better.
The blood thinners are a bitch, but I don't have to tell you, it beats the alternative. Heparin, Luvanox(sp?), etc can make the smallest injury look like you went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson. The bruising makes you look like a bad banana.

I'm not an OT regular, but I post here some and know the lay of the land. I'm not even sure we have ever interacted in a thread, but I have noticed one thing about you. Even though a lot of what you do is very jovial, you can get very serious and empathetic when someone posts about having a hard time.
I've seen you respond numerous times to posters who are in despair of some sort offering them help, or just someone to talk to. And I can tell it's sincere. You are a good man who is always there for others who are in need, so now it's our turn to be there for you.

To which address do we ship care packages? I am on the road now, but could put together something from The Locker Room in downtown Auburn. It’s a distinguished haberdasher, at least for small town Alabama. What neck size, arm length, waist length and pant length are you? They have a tailor there who can do alterations. I fear you do not have the best clothes in your recovery facility and want you to look your best on the way back. When you are released, we will have to go on a shopping spree together, maybe at Rubenstein’s, if that store is amenable to you.
