The therapeutic nihilism was real for some people.

A lot of people got rich. Also very real.

Never let a crisis go to waste right?

According to Grok, 1,539,500 deaths are attributed to Covid-19, officially, by Canada, Mexico and the US.

In the US, Batesville Casket Company and Matthews International Corporation are the two giants in the funeral industry. You would think that an excess of people dying would be good for their business, but actually, both company reported only a very small increase in revenue that is attributable to the annual increase in deaths of elderly baby boomers, so you have to ask,

"If we had all these excess of deaths, why didn't the funeral business register an uptick in business?"

for the funeral we had during covid it was restricted to a gravesite service, couldn't have the normal indoor service with all the bells and whistles. people were pissed.

Wrong. Quarantine sick people? Sure. But forcing healthy people to stay inside was the dumbest thing possible and it was obvious even then.

I know somone who died BECAUSE OF IT. But not from it,

They made my aunt test several dozen times and not a single positive. She could not get an in person appointment with a specialist due to the shutdown. When she finally was hospitalized they tested her more times until they finally discovered it was sepsis and not Covid and it was then too late and she died.

THe ASSHATS who made COVID a profit center caused her death.

Is anyone else on board with forever masking?

I know the subject of masking forever contentious, but I think on some level I’ve just accepted that for the rest of my life, I will be masking and all shared and public spaces — and honestly, I’ll probably be masking around family and friends since I live alone, and most people aren’t as cautious as I am.

It’s not something I feel overly sad about, but it’s also obviously not how I imagined my future.

To me, it just seems like the most logical option with what’s going on with the world right now and factoring in air pollution from climate collapse, and such.

Does anyone else feel the same?

We didn’t know how it spread, and we thought it was much more lethal than it ended up being. We thought it was something that would kill almost anyone with a reduced immune system. Kids, old people, people with other illnesses/disease, etc. But we learned more about it over the first month or two, and at that point our risk tolerance should have changed

My point that the original lockdowns were largely agreed upon by Americans

majority of Americans — 8 in 10 — say strict shelter-in-place guidelines are worth it, to keep people safe from COVID-19 and control the spread of the virus, according to a new Kaiser Family Foundation tracking poll. The same percentage, of around 80% of Americans, also say they can follow the restrictions for at least one more month.

My Mom died of cancer during COVID, while in hospice at home. We had to wait a few hours for them to come and get her body because they were dealing with a fairly large uptick in deaths (particularly of older folks).

That said, once we sat down to plan services it was significantly cheaper because grave side services weren't allowed (this was in December after things shut down, pre-Paxlovid, infusions being utilized on a widespread scale) and the actual funeral service was just immediate family.

They just left all the bodies in Burger King reefer trailers

I'm only referencing wholesale supplies to the funeral homes such as caskets, urns and embalming suplies. The funeral homes increase the cost of those to the consumer by upwards of 500%, charge for their services and use of building, hearse, graveside services, publishing, etc .

I'm only referencing wholesale supplies.

"no one" and "3 years" is an obvious exaggeration, but I'm sure you knew that.
and your picture proves his point.

*no estimates for 20-21 due to minimal activity*
11mil in 21-22 season.

so only 11 mil estimated for a full 2 year stretch when every other individual year between 2012-2013 and 2023-2024 had more than double that each season?

The Covid years people were socially distancing, washing hands religiously, and wearing surgical masks.

I would be shocked if Flu events DIDNT drop

But you could still go to Walmart and Lowe’s. Dumbest thing ever was shutting down.

not surprising at all if you understand how the flu spreads and how testing changed to the higher priority virus.

he had to exaggerate his point because without exaggerating he didn't have one.

And we were not really testing for it. Probably had some impact as well.
