I love some hood bbq.. And I am not even joking.. This black dude I know... His name is Rev, he is a reverend, a school bus driver, works part time in the assessor's office and use to makes wooden coffins. He can also bbq the best bbq I ever ate.

He has a small set up that looks like a small food truck, but it's a trailer. Several years ago, he would open up shop in the hood on Saturdays. When I worked at the courthouse I ate his food and told him that if he ever sells it to please let me know, so when he planned to sell on Saturdays he would let me know. He use to start the night before, wake up and start grilling at 4AM. He would slow cook it.. He would open at 10:30AM, but it was always closer to 11AM when he would have it ready.

For $5, you would get ribs, a chicken quarter, beans a bread.. It was deep in the hood, I never ever saw another white person. There would be people out there I knew, I either went to school with them or saw them at the courthouse or something. They use to always "frick with me" (not in a bad way) and tell me that I loved rev's bbq so much that I looked past being scared to go to the hood to get some.

But I feel you. You say something and think you will at least get a courtesy laugh... and you get nothing.. I doubt it was personal.
