Random Media from Childhood that Sparked Nightmares
Posted by Hoodie on 8/19/21 at 11:47 am180
New Orleans home-improvement company L.A.S. ran the ad linked below when I was roughly 5-years-old. The hungry, green monster scared the tar out of me, and then the two-headed man really put the weird factor over the top.
Does anyone here recall this spot or have similar stories to share?
LAS Commercial (1980), "Fight the Uglies"

The whole "baby Jessica" story made me terrified of manhole covers and any hole in the ground.
Still get the eebie jeebies when I walk past them.

Unsolved Mysteries scared the shite out of me. I can still recite the phone number from memory.

I didn't notice the older gentleman flexing his chest as a child, between the monster and the two-headed man. I suppose someone off-camera told him to show-off that t-shirt with the company mascot and slogan.
Such an unusual ad...

We need a rule that only Tyga Woods can start a thread with “Random”. It gets my hopes up for nothing.

Damn...I haven't thought of that commercial in YEARS! I remember as a kid wanting one of those sweet assed shirts.
Though, I was more freaked out by the double headed guy at the end than the green ugly thing.
For me, it was this made for TV movie called Don't be Afraid of the Dark. There were these tiny little cone headed monsters that lived in the fireplace, and there was this one scene where they were out and trying to kill the wife and they had a straight razor when she was in the shower. I've thought of that scene hundreds of times over the years while in the shower.
