Two weeks notice is bullshite. When I worked for other people and was ready to move on you’d get a today notice as in I’m out of here to- motherfrickin-day. Why should you get two weeks notice when in reality I’m firing you as my boss? You wouldn’t give me two weeks notice if you fired me. As an employer when someone gives me two weeks notice I say thanks but you can go now. Why would I pay you for two weeks when you’re mind is already gone.

Become an expert at something for which people will pay money. Then you can always find work and you don’t have to sacrifice your integrity for a job.

Working for major corporations is like a tree full of monkeys. Some monkeys are climbing up and some are going down. When the monkeys climbing up look down they see a bunch of smiling faces. When the monkeys at the bottom look up they see a bunch of azzholes.

Don’t get your money and your meat from the same location.

Hope these are helpful.

second the staying socially distant from work compadres.

To me I like to stick to once or twice a year of having an after hours drink or lunch with co workers. That is only if I am invited by them. Which is always the case. Otherwise, keep it separate.

People just know. I’m not interested.

Assert dominance early by fricking the boss's old lady (and daughter, if appropiate).

People generally don’t fire people that they like.

Don’t backstab people that you’re in an “alliance” with. Be comfortable letting them have the credit.

Take time to build a network below you on the food chain.

Speak softly and carry a big stick. Know when you’re in high leverage situations and save your bravado for those occasions.

Microsoft is your best friend.

I have to bring my own Charmin to do that. Toilet paper here is like single ply sandpaper.

Advice: Don't work at a company with nepotism, run away as fast as you can.

The President of the company and his two sons work here, One of the VP's and his two sons that work here and the other VP has one son that works here. The pays great but its pure hell dealing with daddy's boys and their lack of work ethics & effort.

The only thing you “owe” your employer is to do a good job.

The power of a professional and good attitude cannot be understated.

I can teach you how to do just about anything, but I can't teach you how to be a good person to work with, that's on you.

Never show your frustration or lose your cool. Bring solutions, not problems.

When you have a presentation the next day for out of town Brass, do not go out drinking with your friends all night long. And do not walk into the local Waffle House for that 6 AM meal and see them all staring at you.

Excellent advice concerning speaking. I never and still can’t. Always considered one of the smartest and best problem solver but never spoke in front of people. Always did excellent in small groups and usually became the leader, but someone else gave the talk. Even had corporate (HCA) call me several times with issues and I gave them solid , useful advice. They hinted they wanted me to be the director of purchasing.. 305 hospitals, but nope, had to give talks.
