My work life and personal life are 99% separate and I like it that way. The drama queens (and Kings) bitching about their marriage or dating at work are the ones who don't last.
Bingo. I drive trucks cross country and have a completely seperate social media account to interact with the company page, company groups on FB, etc. I don't want them seeing anything beyond a picture of the truck I drive because truck drivers are notoriously huge drama queens on FB. I have zero patience for that stuff. If I get to know someone at work, I'll friend them on the work page but not my personal page. I don't really do much outside of work for the company, I have zero interest in social events like picnics, activities, parties, etc. Just give me my paycheck and leave me alone if you see me outside of there and stay away from my family. Huge privacy fence there that has worked well for me the last 15 years.

Don't be afraid to find another job and bounce. Quite often the grass is greener on the other side.

Don't stay in a position for more than 2-3 years unless you're satisfied with pay.

If you've got a manager or co-worker you can't trust, document everything you can in writing. Email others your notes from meetings, summaries of their requests, etc.

This saved my job more than once.

also, when you're young and not on the VP fast-track after a year or two, start to look elsewhere

If you work in a plant, don’t EVER tell a secret you don’t want getting back to another person. EVER. Seriously. You will tell someone something and leave the room and they’ll tell the next person that walks in and say hey don’t say anything, but… .

Never be first. Never be last. To much attention on both ends. Blend in the middle.

Don’t complain about something unless you have a reasonable solution to the problem

Solve the issue first, retrospective on cause and steps to take to prevent it later , never blame

Senior role right below upper management is the best spot.

Doing 100% of the minimum is all that is really required.

Corporations do not care about you, no matter how often they call their employees their "family." They will fire you without a second thought if it helps their bottom line. If its time to cut and run, do so without any remorse.

Yeah that's something I really didn't appreciate when I was younger, I thought I was smart because I could foresee problems others couldn't

That skillset is valuable, but issue spotting without proposed solutions is obnoxious and will make everyone hate you

And never come to your boss with a problem unless you can also suggest the solution.

He called that "throwing a dead fish on the table."

Don’t consider BRPD for your career.

Solid advice.
