It's "amenities".

Why are people so scared to look up words they don't know how to spell? It's not like we don't have access to dictionaries on the internet.

I just don't get it.

In general the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area is better than Charlotte.

Lived in Charlotte for 3 years. Would still be there if we could get our families to gtf out of Louisiana.

But, here we are. Back in Louisiana making the best of it.

If banking, Charlotte. If researcher, Raleigh. If working from home or work involves travel, Charlotte—international airport with direct flights pretty much everywhere in the US.

Both great, probably both top 10 places to live in the US. Raleigh, with its Universities, has a vibrant college feel but is also developing into one of the research, pharma and tech hubs in the country. Charlotte is a great southern city that is trying hard to rival Atlanta.

NC in general is a great place to live. I’d choose Raleigh if given that choice, but you could do a lot worse than either.

Charlotte. Live in SC to save on taxes and avoid auto inspection BS.

Raleigh is a dump like most capital cities, no redeeming qualities.

When you weigh everything, I think NC is a fantastic state to live in.

Can’t go wrong with either. Charlotte has more amenities, Raleigh has more of a quaint feel. I’ve lived in both.

In NC - Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham, Ashville are all nicer. I also really like Wilmington.

In Virginia, depending on what you want I'd either go Northern VA (great schools, access to DC, plenty of things to do). If you want more rural / less DC I'd go to the Roanoke / Blacksburg area. I haven't lived in the Norfolk area before but I'd go there over Richmond too.

Richmond is a rough city. You have like a 2 block area right by the capital that's really nice, but that's about it. Compared to everywhere else I mentioned above the economy is growing slower in Richmond as well.

Lived in Durham for a while. Raleigh was nice. Thought Chapel Hill was the best of the triangle cities. Charlotte has a great downtown.
