I posted a thread about this a few years ago. The young woman working as a cashier at one of our local stores where I buy gas put a sign up about putting the money in her hand. The manager of the store made her take the sign down.

It’s called a counter because that’s where you count the money.

So why are kitchen counters called that? Bathroom counters?

What I find funny is that the people pissing and moaning about respect are the people who give the least of it and deserve the least of it too.

It’s like a waiter who completely fricks up the order in every single way possible, plus cops an attitude, then gets pissy at a small tip or no tip.

Angry black women are probably the most racist people I have ever encountered. Not all, but many.

Many are uneducated or undereducated and believe the blurb they have read to them on the TV screen. They’re sheep in many regards and politicians play them every political year/term for fools.

I agree with this, but they occupy the other end of the spectrum too. At least some of the older ones do. Some older black women are some of the sweetest and most spiritual women I know.

This younger generation though, God help us.

What about when they refuse to make eye contact with you, refuse to get off thier blutoot or speakerphone call, angrily shout the cost of your purchase like you are bothering the hell out of them and they are angry they have to do thier fricking job, or when the only thing they say to you is "credik or debit"? Do you not have respect also?

I had something similar, albeit different circumstances.

I was getting something at the gas station and had a black male cashier. I asked how his day was going and he answered something like “getting after the hustle.” I said “attaboy” and he stopped and put a finger in my face and said “don’t call me boy.” I said sorry, it was just an expression and he went off about white people calling him boy all his life.

While he was being ridiculous as was the lady in the OP, I’m sure there have been enough racist interactions of people calling him boy or somebody throwing money on the counter for it to be triggering to them.

Unfortunately, society has trained them to think that innocent dollar bills falling out and a using a normal phrase are micro aggressions or some bull shite.

Paying with cash instead of EBT is white privilege.

The cashier, says loudly, "don't you throw you money at me old man, you don't think I got respect".

I was speechless for a second, trying to figure out what went wrong here, I just picked up my $2, said "I guess I'll get my drink someplace else".

She was MF'ing me all the way to the door.

What the hell is wrong with people?

They want the confrontation, and desire the angry chaos. People who are angry feed off of their own anger. They want to drag you in their own personal hell.

You did the right thing. Now, continue to do so, and never frequent that place again. People like that may make it with or without your business, but you should never reward such behavior by giving them money. That’s just my 2 cents on the matter.

The money on the counter thing is a point of contention for the convenience store ladies as I understand it. I had no idea until I read something on here about it years ago.

This is where I learned about it, too. I've never intentionally put money on a counter as a slight to the cashier. Sometimes their hands are full of other things or they're on the phone or whatever else. Seems like a silly thing to get angry over, but whatever, I make it a point not to do it anymore to avoid confrontation.

Why do you say that? I caught the exact same type of attitude from a teller at my bank and the branch manager had to intervene. The teller even escalated her BS and claimed I said something “racist” once the Manager got involved. Luckily for me, I guess, the next guy in line stepped up and said “that didn’t happen.” Chick dropped that race card like a bomb as soon as she figured out she let her mouth get away from her. I was livid.
Hope you got her fired.

This.

It's like the Democrats calling people intolerant and racist. Or government officials telling people to stay home while they vacation left and right. People seem to forget certain things are earned...respect is a two-way street. Tips (to use your example) are earned, not automatic. You give good service, you get a good tip. You give shitty service, you won't. Respect works the same way. You can't go around yelling at people and coming at them all wrong and them demand they respect you. That's not how life works. And one day they will find that out the hard way.

One time I put my hand held basket on the conveyer. There was only a couple items in the basket. The hoodrat cashier catches an attitude and tells me it's not her job to take the items out the basket. I take the 3 m items out the basket and place them next to the basket and just roll my eyes. Some people are just dumb, angry, and lazy and it's not worth your time or energy to deal with their bullshite.
